This country is quickly falling into a sh*&hole. How can they get so many of the judges to trash the constitution too? There must be a conspiracy underfoot...Illuminati?

We continue to copy additional aspects of the Stalinist model of utopia. Forced drugging of suspects.

Just be sure to give forced drug tests to these individuals too. Whoops! Now the tests come back positive for controlled substances! Tack on some felony drug charges too.

I thought I remembered Dr. Sell, and indeed I do.

The reason Dr. Sell appears to be rotting in prison on experimental antipsychotic medication is because (again from the court documents) he believes certain bad things about Clinton's justice machine. Among the three listed, my personal favorite is number two.

From the court documents at http://www.aapsonline.org/judicial/sellamicus.doc

"...(ii) Dr. Sell thought there was a government effort to cover up defendant’s knowledge of the government’s culpability in the Waco deaths, where defendant was summoned to serve at that time as an Army Reservist; and..."

Gosh, if that qualifies as a reason to forcibly medicate someone for a number of years on antipsychotic medication, Oliver Stone should flee to Cuba before they haul him in.

This article is missing a lot of important info. People with certain mental illness need 'mind-altering' drugs to function as a normal person because their mind is so messed up without them, and I think it a requirement of justice that such a person be medicated to normalcy for their trial (or as close to normal as the medicine will get them). It's not the same thing at all as pumping a mentaly fit person full of LSD or something.

The fact that the article avoids saying what medicine, why and in what circumstances (creating the impression that the judge said any drug, to any suspect, anytime for any reason) leads me to think that they are deliberatly trying to mislead.

By decree of law you cannot choose to consume mind altering drugs prohibited by the government and cannot refuse to consume mind altering drugs mandated by the government. Land of the free?

Oh, how terrible!

How we would miss the local color added by the folks walking around downtown shouting at traffic, urinating against buildings and running over children with their shopping carts!

Here is the quandry (looking at the big picture). For the purpose of discussion, let us assume the man is psychotic and he has a documented mental disease. One of the biggest problems we have in our society is that no one can force such a patient to take medication.....this is why so many relapse when released from a mental health care facility. We cannot make them take their meds and we cannot force treatment on them. Reality bites...we do not have the resources to commit every documented mental patient who refuses treatment & they fall through the cracks.

As a result, they are wandering the street (a large percentage of the homeless). Some are not dangerous to themselves or others, others are dangerous to themselves but not others, and many are dangerous to others.

I am not advocating forced medication by the government on anyone. But at the same time, I am the first one to complain. "Well what do you expect? They diagnose, treat, release with instructions, but no followup" when I hear of a crime treated by a "former mental patient" who went off his meds.

No easy answers to the age old debate "rights of the individual vs. the safety of others" I am a strong believer in individual rights, but wrestle with many contradictions.

Never let yourself be taken.

And what about the War on (Some) Drugs? I guess these drugs are "legal"?
