Student Still in Need of Prayer

Several months ago I posted two prayer requests for a student
of mine about whom I was concerned. He did drop out of
school for this semester-- after making a 4.0 in the fall.

Only a few emails from him had informed me since December.

I continued to pray for his improvement and discernment. I
have observed weird things in this group/neighborhood. He is
in a cult-like home fellowship which encourages "work of the hands"
and staying within that group for marriage, etc.

Then on 2/28 I got an email from him part of which is
below. This is reproduced so you prayer warriors know what we are
up against. I am going to ask one of my assistant pastors to help him
assuming he agrees, as I am out of my league on this.

Please pray for Jonathan, me, and the pastor that God will
keep us all safe and in His Will.

From his email:

Thank you for praying for me, and doing everything to help
me, [...].

I have been reading a good book, the best book I've ever
read as far as help concerns. It talked about passivity and how it
activates evil spirits. I realize that I have been listening to evil spirits
where I thought I was listening to God, and thus giving them
further place to torment me. We can talk about it some time if
you like. Anyway, I have started to resist.

He is a victim of child abuse and neglect and has multiple
personality disorder. Please pray also that any encounter with
the pastor leads him to go back to Christian therapy. He was
going last year but his therapist moved out of town.

I'll add the young man to our Parish Prayer line. It is so sad to see emotional young people sucked into cults and groups like that. They are looking for companionship and direction and fall for the nice words and welcoming attitudes, only to find out the truth too late in many cases. Fortunately this young man seems to have retained enough common sense to know when to get out!

May God's angels suround your student and present a shield to ward off all evil and show him the true spirit of love. Prayers are powerful. The more people who pray the more powerful the prayer. I will keep this prayer alive.

My pastor said today this case was beyond him. The psychological
problems are serious. So he said for me to recommend
a Christian counselor to Jonathan.

Please continue prayers in our behalf.

Update:

I got a Christian counselor's name for Jonathan but haven't had a message from him since February 28.

I have not contacted him in nearly 2 weeks; the LORD has told me to hold back and to wait upon Him.

Please pray that He will prepare the way for Jonathan and deliver him back to counseling
and college... if that is His will.
