Would Dell stay as ignorant of such an affiliate site?

Yes. Unless sites are engaged in something illegal or pornographic that gets reported to Dell (or almost any other company that runs an affiliate program), they never even know what the sites are. That's my point. I'd wager with total confidence that Dell has zero idea what HCI even is. Oddly enough, as HoosierPatriot found out through a bit of online investigation, HCI is a sub-site of a larger organization called EduOrg that sponsors both liberal and conservative sites, and EduOrg maintains this affiliate program and shares the revenue with the sub-sites. Of course, I also suspect that Dell has no clue that EduOrg even exists. 'Tis the nature of this aspect of e-commerce.

I find it ironic that a flower retailer would support HCI. Assuming that guns kill, why would a flower retailer want to lop out a niche of their business. Funerals almost always draw hundreds of dollars in business from from florists. I would think the florists would want people dead. (/sarcasm)

For what? One contribution to Hand Gun Control?

And the real kicker is that Dell has made no contribution to HCI and probably has no idea that they even exist. I can't believe how hard it is to get people to understand how the online affiliate business works. Dell and every other major e-commerce company has hundreds of thousands of affiliates. You can be a Dell affiliate in minutes and there is NO screening process. I signed up a brand new site with them last night and had working affiliate links within three minutes. For pointing this out, of course, I'm a Dell apologist, blah blah blah, yada yada, and more yada. I sometimes wonder if folks here don't just go around looking for a fight.

This is not directed at you personally.

You appear educated on the subject...I admit to apparently not having as full an understanding as yourself.

IF, I was to clik on the Dell link on HCI's site....Where does that take me? An affiliates web site? Or, direct to Dell's web site? I don't know..I've not gone to HCI's site to try that....So...that would tell me something, I suppose.

It does seem to me....that in today's day and age...a company, especially a computer company would be aware and diligent about who and what used their name..and who links to them. But I could be wrong....and maybe Dell deems they have better and bigger things to worry about. Nevertheless, I appreciate your insight......and await to see how it all turns out.

FRegards,

If you click on the Dell link on HCI's site, you'll go to Dell's site. The link itself contains a code that tells the Dell servers that you came to the Dell site as a result of a link from affiliate number xxxxxxx, and if you make a purchase while you're there, affiliate number xxxxxxx is due a commission. Make sense?
