Due to environmental concerns the firing range at Great Lakes was demolished in 1977.

I went to boot camp at Great Lakes in 1982 and fired a .38 revolver at the firing range. It was in pretty good shape for a range that had been demolished 5 years before.

I was at a range in 95 at great lakes, it was also pretty good for a range that had been demolished for 10 years.
