Would you call the murder of Daniel Pearl a hate crime, and the people who committed it racists? If not, why not?

There is no such thing as a hate crime. I would call the murderers of Daniel Pearl racists yes. I would not paint all muslims as racists because of the actions of a few whacked out racists who also happened to be muslims. Just like I wouldn't call all Christians racists due to the actions of Christian identity groups and Klansmen (supposedly devout Christians).
