A woman was introducing her actress friend to some other friends. Wanting to impress the latter, she intended to say "This is Ann, who is a thespian." But of course, she misspoke LOL

Remember the outcry when a DC official used the word "niggardly" in a press conference?

Thanks for reminding me. One particular DC councilman took extreme offense at the remark. I have been meaning to send him a dictionary as a present, but have yet to do so.

The gentleman concerned, is an absolute CLASS ACT , as far as I am concerned.

Without a doubt!
But, bookmarking this thread for future use anyway.
It's going to come in handy one day. Count on it.

MSNBC should thank their lucky stars it was the classy Niger Inness and not Al Sharpton or Leo Terrell...they'd sue 'em up the wazoo for that little faux pas.

The ad said the house had furniture, rugs and africans for sale, meaning of course "afghans." (the paper made the goof)

Oh man what a hoot! My grandmother used to say she was crocheting 'africans' for her grandchildren! How funny that someone else made this mistake!

Yes, Mr. Innis showed the class that Black Republicans have. I couldn't believe it when I saw this on the threads!

What's the big deal about calling him Ginger Innis? I can think of many wonderful Gingers: Rogers (?sp?), Ginger from Gilligan's Island, etc. LOL

I missed that one; what was the Tiger Woods thing about?

Did Fuzzy call him "Tigger"?

I think it was when Tiger won the Masters. The winner picks the dinner or lunch that is served, or whatever. Fuzzy said something like "I hope he doesn't pick fried chicken" or something to that effect. Actually, I believe Tiger handled it with class also, if I remember correctly.

Does anyone else wonder what his parents were THINKING when they gave their son the first name of "Niger"? Were they oblivious to the obvious problems that it could give him throughout his life?

Or is it just me?

Plus Tiger has taken heat for not wanting to be labeled an African-American. I think he was born here, so that would be incorrect anyway.

It was strictly a typographical mistake, network spokesman Mark O'Connor said Thursday. He wouldn't say whether any disciplinary action was taken against the person who made the blunder.

Yeah, sure. It's still my contention that this was done on purpose.

Mr. Ennis is a nice, decent man. He handled this far more amiably than I would have.

But check out the most important part: "He [Mark O'Connor] wouldn't say whether any disciplinary action was taken against the person who made the blunder."

Oh, why not? Private matter?

They're "niggers" if they're Republicans.

If this had of been a Democrat on Fox News, we would be able to hear the howlings throughout the entire Red Zone.

They did it on purpose because he's a conservative. Collateral damage: 10.5 million citizens of the Republic of Niger.

I was going to suggest that the newspaper's mistake cuts both ways, but people might misunderstand me to be making disparaging references to Sec. Thompson's masculinity.

This is awful. They pay people to catch these kinds of things. I can't believe a proofreader didn't catch this before airing. Someone should get sacked, but probably won't happen.
