Little Rock Police Officer Killed in Line of Duty

34-year old Jack Cooper passed away Saturday morning at Baptist Hospital.

An 11-year veteran of the police force, Cooper was recently assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division.. which includes West Little Rock. Jack Cooper passed away 10 o'clock this morning. We're told he was shot in the neck.

Fellow officers and friends walked in and out of the Baptist ER all night - for them it was a symbolic gesture of support. After all they could do nothing more..

"They really don't know what to do..they want to help but they don't know how." Cooper was admitted to Baptist shortly after 2.. When a police motorcade...lead the ambulance away from the Waterford Apartments on Green Mountain Drive.

Less than 5 minutes later - they arrived here at Baptist.

His condition critical. Then Saturday morning he passed away.

By all accounts, 34 year old Jack Cooper was an outstanding officer but more importantly, a terrific human being...

There is a brotherhood of officers that runs deep. Many officers are relying on that brotherhood.

I am so sorry to hear of this. My dad was a policeman before he worked for the railroad. I hold everyone of them in my heart.

Send his name in to the radio host 'Black Avenger' for his honor wall of policemen who have given their lives in the call of duty. It is so sad he didn't make it- we were praying that he would pull through.

Heavenly Father, we don't always understand what happens, but I know and trust that this decision to bring Officer Cooper home to You was the correct and most merciful decision. Thank You that he lived and walked among us, and thank You that we will all be reunited in Your presence very soon. Bless his family, friends and loved ones, and give them Your complete peace and assurance. Provide for every need within his family. Thank You Father! In Jesus' name I ask these things, for the relief of those who love and care for Officer Cooper. Amen!

Police are wearing the black band on their badges in Pine Bluff in memory of Officer Cooper.

Another hero lost.

The funeral procession for this brave officer just left the Agape Church and is heading to the gravesite services.

Dear Lord, I pray that you hold Officer Cooper in your comforting arms. Although we are saddened at our loss of this brave young man, we are comforted by the knowledge that he is now in Your loving embrace.
Dear God, we thank you for providing us with brave men and women like Officer Cooper who protect others and place themselves in peril for the sake of strangers.
Lord, please grant Officer Cooper's family with peace, and allow their tears of grief turn to tears of pride knowing that their loved one made the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow man.
Lord, grant them serenity in knowing that their loved one has been welcomed into your home, and sits beside your thrown in honored glory. Lord, thank You for your blessings, which You have bestowed on us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
