state police called saying they needed to visit to verify serial numbers of his guns before they approved his pending purchase.

If you can't trust the State police to be straight with you, well. . .

the troopers told him they had been ordered to seize all his firearms.

Shame on you troopers. Why can't you have the ba!!s to say "No, I won't do that".

Yeah.... you see why I'm against a BLANKET prohibition on ex-felons being able to have the RKBA? Sure Donald G. Arnold was once in trouble with the law. And he was punished for it then. But its also a damn long time ago and he's not a career criminal. The Maryland Gestapo thinks that no matter how long ago your felony was, you should be kept for LIFE from ever being able to exercise the RKBA. Even if you're a Vietnam Vet and acknowledged "citizen of the year."

IMO, Maryland is the worst state in the USA. I remember when I used to ride home from work at midnight, and I smelled the stink of all the sewage in Chesapeake bay. When I'd comment about it, everybody thought I was nuts!

My fondest remembrance of the place was this babe of a barmaid who worked at one of the local bars. She used to hang out with a bunch of Baltimore police hacks and I always wanted to say to her, "Come with me to Montana, where the men are men and so are the women!"

It's not the police I'm worried about.
It's the unconstitutional liberal gun confiscation laws being enacted that everyone should be concerned about.

I live in western MA and recently acquuired a license-to-carry permit.

I had to take a firearms course and the wait was a little over a month.

While I raised a lot of hell in my 20's, I never got busted. That's the sure-fired way to be turned down.

Up here, the local Chief of Police can turn you down if he doesn't like the way you look. It comes down to your record.

But it is the police that enforce the laws. Without the support of armed enforcement the unconstitutional gun confiscation laws are worthless.

If citizens try to defy the laws they die or go to jail. We need police that will just say no to enforcing laws that are contrary to the Constitution. The police are sworn to uphold the law and Constitution is the supreme law of the land.

I think it's only fair that Maryland change the name "Citizen of the Year" to "Comrade of the Year" to reflect kind of government that they have.

This shows a crying need for a recall of the Maryland AG. Unfortunately, if I suggested that a liberal, gungrabbing democrat could be recalled in the liberal, gungrabbing state of Maryland, I would be suspected of huffing glue.

We need police that will just say no to enforcing laws that are contrary to the Constitution.

That's the last thing we need. We need elected officials who don't pass such stupid laws in the first place. Secondly, we need judges who interpret the Constitution the way it was written.

I used to be of the mindset that agreed with that blanket prohibition for ex-felons until I read more and more stories like these. There is no way this man should lose his right to carry.

And another thing.

Earth to Flyer: Unconstitutional gun confiscation laws ARE worthless!

Why? Do you believe the police should follow ANY orders like Nazis did ? If the police have no judgement ,then they are only robots;I believe too much discretion has already been taken from the beat cop.

I'm sure certain people will be along shortly to let all of us with similar views know that we favor "arming criminals".
