[history]
OTTAWA - A man identified on a U.S. list as part of a financing network supporting Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida organization said that he and his brother, arrested outside Boston, have done nothing wrong.
Liban Hussein says his business -- Barakaat North American, Inc. -- helps Somalis send money to relatives back home through offices in Ottawa and Massachusetts.

FYI FReepers, I saw a heated discussion about Mr. Hussein from yesterday. Looks like his whereabouts are now known, and it won't be long before he'll be answering some hard questions.

And what makes anything this guy says worth the spit in his mouth?

helps Somalis send money to relatives back home
LOL, How many Somali taxi drivers and dishwashers in Boston to justify their own bank!

I'd certainly take his protests with a grain - nay, a shaker - of salt. But it does bode well that he didn't try to run. It was suggested on yesterday's thread that if he didn't turn himself in, that was a good indication of guilt. I thought those folks would like to know that he's apparently going nowhere. Not that it means much...

sounds like a case for terrorist defender William Kuntzler...opps forgot he's dead

Not to rain on any parades today, but it could turn out that he is innocent. We have services like that in Miami which help send money to Haitians and other carribean countries. Guess I'll just need to see more facts..

Maybe not so innocent with our new war. If the skimmed profits benefit terrorists, then the services are targets.
Maybe this suspect didn't know who he was sending his skimmed profits, but if it was BLT (Bin Ladin - Terrorist), he's in trouble.

LOL, How many Somali taxi drivers and dishwashers in Boston to justify their own bank!More than you'd expect. The last 3 times that I've taken a cab to Logan I've had a Somali cabbie....I'd guess that there must be upwards of 10,000 in greater Boston.

Are these the same Somalis who were celebrating the attack on the Twin Towers in their Seattle restaurant...??? (Later reported to the FBI) I say send them ALL home. Investigating these people of possible terrorism IS FAIR and it is SMART! May the US return to using its collective brain.

i know what these guys defense will be:
"we gave money to the 911 fund, administered by the united way. the united way did not give the money to the victims, but rather overseas. we are victims. victims i tell you!"

FBI just broke up the guy's business (es) here in Somali-loaded Columbus, Ohio.
The Muslim Somalis here work at the Airport, in between going to Moslem Brotherhood cell meetings and listening to hate speech at our local mosque.

Oddly enough the Somali who had his business taken apart brick by brick today in Seattle said the same thing. "I'm just driving a cab and running my business to feed my family and they come and take it all away....."
However, this "business" isn't that far from a Somali restaurant where eyewitnesses said there was celebrating on the evening of 9/11.
