Katie Won't Credit Bloomberg; Brokaw's Pain in Announcing W Victory
The Today Show
Posted on 11/07/2001 3:23:34 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest
Katie had Tim Russert on to discuss last night's election results. But rather than asking him a straightforward question permitting Russert to offer his analysis of Bloomberg's victory, Katie offered her own theory in the guise of a question.
"Didn't Bloomberg win only because Rudy Giuliani endorsed him and he spent millions of dollars to endlessly broadcast that endorsement in the days before the election?"
Of course Rudy's endorsement, and Bloomberg's money, were important factors. But Katie would not acknowledge the possibility that Bloomberg's financial acumen, in a time that NYC needs to rebuild its economy, or that Green's far-left agenda and indebtedness to the city's big labor unions, could have been a factor.
As a side note, The Today Show also replayed some of its Election Night coverage from one year ago, and the beginning of the Florida recount mess. They aired the footage of Brokaw announcing (prematurely as it famously turned out) that W had won the election. It was the most subdued, mournful, unwilling bit of reporting since Walter Cronkite announced the news of JFK's death.

She liked the line from Russert: Rudy + $$$ = Bloomie.
To: markfnkl
She's sickening, I can't watch her but thanks for letting us know the BIAS continues on The TODAY SHOW.
They conveniently forget all the millions and millions of money that DEMONRAT Corzine spent to BUY his Senate Seat.
At least Bloomburg won, that was the only good news this AM

In time, Democrat turned Republican Mayor elect Bloomberg, will be a complete embarrasment to the city and to the Republican party.

Young man, you turn that off right now. You'll rot your brain.

Two Democrats running against each other. Like Virginia only it was two Republicans.

Well, to be totally fair, Katie did raise the Corzine race and generally wrung her hands over the role of private money in elections. She would no doubt prefer public funding of campaigns and other such "campaign finance reform."
Russert slapped her down: it's obvious the people don't worry about rich people spending their own money, he replied!

Two Democrats, yes, but I'd rather have our Democrat than their Democrat. He's surely liberal on the social issues, but on the economic ones he must be better than Green, will not be beholden to the unions, and will not be forced to appoint legions of far-left minions into the city's vast bureaucracies.

Sorry Appy, but I just can't help myself. Like playing with a bad tooth!

I'm missing Katie to listen to Maureen Dowd with Imus. "you know"...."you know"...prefaces every other sentence, and Grrrrr.... "Bush has grown in the office....he's a late bloomer "....and "The New York Times is amazing".
She's so full of ****, her eyes are brown!

Er, according to you, the entire Republican Party is an embarrassment to Republicans.
Do you not understand that NYC is another world, politically?

Thanks for the heads-up on Dowd's appearance on Imus, I've tuned over now.

The whole entire Republican party has been an embarrasment to new york city for many years. Too bad the GOP is too scared to fight battles here. The Conservative party here is strong and has the guts to go up against the liberals includeing the liberals in the NY Republican party.

Listening to Maureen Dowd, her shallowness and snideness are shocking. She discusses the war on terrorism with the same flippancy that, prior to September 11th, she devoted to mocking W's syntax.

NO!!! Watch, but don't just tell us how outraged you are. Tell them! Even if you only speek to some geek answering the phones, they keep track of the comments.
Let them know you want to here the whole story and not the biased BS of their current hosts and reporters.

Did you catch the MSNBC promo? Tim Russert is coming up after Imus, and so is Jamie Rubin. My husband and I are sick of CNN and MSNBC, (FOXNews does it too), having Clintonoids on to diss the Bush administration. Oh, the bastards frame their snide comments with faint praise so they won't be attacked as unpatriotic or simply partisan, but their intent is clear.
Where are the republican talking heads, and why won't the networks invite them on?

"Two Democrats, yes, but I'd rather have our Democrat than their Democrat."Don't you get it yet?
When the Republican party becomes filled with successful, life long Democrats like Bloomberg, it's over.
It's been mentioned countless times before, but here it comes again.
Bloomberg ran as a Republican only because the Democratic field was filled with candidates. In the Republican primary he only needed to get past an aging Herman Badillo (a superior candidate to Bloomberg) to secure the party line.
Bloomberg wont be "our Democrat" as you state.
He'll be "your embarrasment."

Little Katie Communist sounds so upset she ought to go treat herself to another special make-over at Bergdorf's -- or better yet, she can just call Bill Clinton and see if he wants to lunch at The Four Seasons. Maybe she could interview Green and Gore together to see how it feels to be a loser. Or she could call Martin Sheen and see if she could do a walk-on in the next LEFT WING show. The NBC Today Show -- isn't that part of the Taliban News Network?

Thank you so much for all the names and phone numbers!
I have called the networks for years and had ABC,CBS and NBC ph #'s prominently written in on the front of my address book, I've since added MSNBC too.
I also believe they DO listen to the calls and comments - and if you don't SAY anything they think it's OK!
They still do whatever they can GET AWAY with, but if you do NOTHING then it just adds to their arrogance!
