CNN's Nic Robertson is reporting that Al Jazeera in Kabul received a letter from Usama bin Laden.

The letter states that the world has organized under two banners: the Christian banner headed by Bush, and the Islamic banner. The letter further states that Pakistan is now under the Christian banner.

Al Jazerra reporting that signature on letter appears to be bin Laden's

I kind of doubt that bin laden will ever publicly go after Pakistan's nukes. The response in the rest of the world would make the present hostilities look like a tea party. he will do it through proxies if at all.

Keep your eyes peeled for undesirables (hey, you KNOW what that means) near Christian facilities.

From October 22, 2001 NOONAN'S MADNESS Hysterical women – a byproduct of war

"Suddenly to our right, on the sidewalk, we saw two "Mideastern looking men," as we all now say. They were 25 or 30 years old, dressed in jeans and windbreakers, and they were doing something odd. They were standing together silently videotaping the outside of St. Pat's, top to bottom. We watched them, trying to put what we were seeing together. Tourists? It was a funny time of day for tourists to be videotaping a landmark – especially when the tourists looked like the guys who'd just a few days before blown up a landmark."

I was just thinking of that hymn, when lo and behold you posted it!

There is another hymn also appropriate.

The Crusader's Hymn

Little is known of the origin of this cherished hymn. Associated with it are several popular legends which cannot always be substantiated by research.

One of the best-known accounts is that it was called the Crusaders’ Hymn. Some think that it was sung by the twelfth century German Crusaders, especially by their children, as they made their long and wearisome trek to the Holy Land.

The English adaptation of this hymn was by Richard Storrs Willis, born in Boston, Massachusetts. It is interesting to note that in this collection a notation about the origin of the hymn is made, stating that it was sung by the German knights on the way to Jerusalem.

This statement undoubtedly did much to foster and popularize the Crusader account. ++++++++++

(1) Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man the Son:
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,
Thou my soul's glory, joy, and crown.

(2) Fair are the meadows, Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring:
jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing.

(3) Fair is the sunshine, Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brights, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels heaven can boast.

(4) Beautiful Savior! Lord of the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!

Toothy thanks for the heads up. So far the press releases from Al Qaeda are conforming to the analysis we did last week. It looks like we will be engaging the 1.3 billion Umma in a war for survival after all. People who look at these messages with non Islamic eyes geerally do not understnad what he is trying to say.

Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

What's the significance of OBL not saying HE is the head of the Islamic banner?

Excellent observation. I'd missed it, but it's very crucial...

"Usama bin Laden indeed believes that he is the Mahadi, but, he cannot proclaim that himself.
The Quran states that anyone who claims to be the Mahdi, is nothing but an imposter.
bin Laden, in carefully orchestrating the psychology of his appearances and statemetns is fostering the public perception that he is indeed the Mahadi and that the forces of the black flag should rally to his cause. But, again, it has to be popular exultation and not his own proclaimations."

Exactly, he can't claim to be the mahdi, but if he "miraculously appears" in Islamabad....

That 'banner of Islam' is shrinking down to fig leaf size, while the banner of civilization is growing to cover most of the World. And that fig leaf isn't hiding the naked desparation of a melomaniac seeing his world shrinking down to the rock walls of the cave that he is hinding in.

Muhammad said: "If you see the black flags coming from Khurasan (Afghanistan),
join that army, even if you have to crawl over ice,
for that is the army of the Imam al-Mahdi
and no one can stop that army until it reaches Jerusalem."

Obviously not false to them, they think we are the evil ones after all it's a matter of perspective. In their eyes Our President is the Great Satan.

Liberal stupid-speak. Something can't be "false to them". It's true or it's not. Truth exists apart from us; otherwise we all simply live in a dreamworld. Only liberals live there.

NC Conservative is right. Christianity is true, 'islam' is false. They lose.

Two things stand out: 1. Why was this a letter rather than a video tape? (Is he very sick, as some reports have said?)

Two reasons why videotapes may not have been used...

1)OBL knows we wont play them 2)The last time he made a video it was in front of a cave that he liked very much and we more then likely destroyed it. He doesnt want to lose any more caves... ; )

Pakistan's nukes and Saudi Oil are bin Laden's goals. That's what he was attempting to set in motion on September 11.

The Pakistani regime is very shaky. A revolution could happen in the streets with his many sympathizers. Even if we step in and preventing him from getting the nukes, bin Laden comes out ahead if he survives, because he will be the heroic Mahdi, fighting the infidel.

Associated Press King Abdullah
BBC Jesus King Abdullah II

The Koran quotes the baby Isa ('Jesus', but it looks more like Esau):

[19.29] But she pointed to him. They said: How should we speak to one who was a child in the cradle?
[19.30] He said: Surely I am a servant of Allah; He has given me the Book and made me a prophet;

Of course "we" would play them. "We" played them the last time. The TV news networks can't resist playing video, it's what they live for.

2)The last time he made a video it was in front of a cave that he liked very much and we more then likely destroyed it. He doesnt want to lose any more caves... ; )

All he'd have to do would be to do the video in front of a backdrop (hang a sheet on the wall behind him or something).

No, I think the reason that "OBL" sent a letter instead of a video is because OBL is already dead.

Either that, or the batteries on his camcorder have run out of juice and there aren't any electrical outlets in his cave to recharge them.

Here's a 70 year old Korean War vet who's trying to rally the unorganized militia in his home town to patrol the streets and local assets armed, locked and loaded. I wrote the governor, a Seattle paper, and the local sheriff and police stating why we need to do this, and how competant we actually can be. Funny how slow the politicians and bureaucrats are to encourage--and possibly permit this.

The advantages include: armed volunteers using their own firearms, cell phones, citizen band radios, night vision goggles, and vehicles (many of which are 4WD, and none of which are marked as police or ANG). We know our own backyards, most of us hunt, fish, and do recreational boating, and we love our country a little more than a lot of the local liberals do. I'm retired and can pull nights, and will do so. Talk to you later with all the roses and warts, and asking FReepers for advice. I've forgotten a lot in 50 years but it's worth relearning. And a lot of FReepers have given good advice on these matters in the past which I've been trying to spread into the sheriff's office and other LEO's. Buying small arms ammo by the case. Do it while you can. Doc Steve
