Bin Laden Urges Pakistanis to Defend Islam -Jazeera

DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi-born militant Osama bin Laden has issued a letter urging Pakistani Muslims to defend Islam against what he described as a Christian crusade, Qatar's al-Jazeera satellite television reported Thursday.

The television showed a picture of the letter written in Arabic that it said was signed by bin Laden, Washington's main suspect in the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. A copy of the letter was not immediately available.

``Osama bin Laden called on Muslims in Pakistan to stand in the face of what he called a Christian crusade against Islam,'' a Jazeera news reader quoted the letter as saying.

``Muslims in Afghanistan are being subjected to killing, and the Pakistani government is standing beneath the Christian banner,'' the letter was quoted by the announcer as saying.

The United States has launched a military campaign against Muslim Afghanistan to flush out bin Laden.

Pakistan has allied itself with the United States in its military campaign against Afghanistan's ruling Taliban.

Nice try Osama. If it was a christian crusade you'd already be dead along with the rest of the muslims in the world.

Why a letter? Why not a video, with some irrefutable proof that he's still alive?

The murder of those 16 Christians was not just terror - it was programmatic.

Bin Laden's dream is to topple the Saudi government, reestablish the medieval Caliphate and eliminate Christianity.

Im thinking that binLaden may be dead, or else is so bogged down in hiding that he can no longer function.

I believe this for two reasons:

1) We have not seen any video of him that would confirm he is still alive.

2) Apparently, the terrorist cells in America have been given word that they can pick their own targets, rather than waiting for orders from binLaden.

Anyone else have thoughts?

You are not a Christian, you should be quiet, you should not speak out in such a way if you are going to associate your Christian love for God with hate for people unlike yourself. I bet you speak only one language. I bet you don't have very many friends. I bet you didn't finish college.

Bikers4Bush. Why don't you take your unchristian hate back to the church, and bolt the doors and don't come out for a long time

It is funny that Bin Laden's references to "Christians" as his enemies have generally been suppressed by the press. Numerous times Al Qaeda representatives, including Bin Laden, have spoken of war against the "Christians and Jews" yet the sound bytes that come out rarely mention the Christians. It is as if the press wants to soften his message to make him more appealing to the west. Really if we don't hold our media accountable we will lose this war.

Heres a thought; while Bin Ladens hiding down in the caves the USA should send some bulldozers over there and plug up every hole on those mountains and then set fire to the damn thing. Or fill up the holes with oil and drop a match. Hell the bombs were dropping aren't even affecting him, so LETS PLAY DIRTY! Hear that Bush????

What are you some sort of idiot?

My subtle point, which was obviously lost on you, is that the non-muslim countries control the vast majority of nuclear weapons on this earth and if this was truly a "christian crusade" as bin laden has said that it would already be over.

Do you get it now or would you like to spew some more broken nonesense at me?

I believe he's dead also, for the reasons you mentioned, but that doesn't make one whit of difference to the organization, or to Al Jazeera.

Another point: Where is the vaunted CNN interview?

I'm starting to think you're right. No video or voice is very telling.

If it's true though you have to wonder how the heck the taliban is keeping it so quiet.

There was a report a while back that his own people had killed him, which was pretty much dismissed -- but perhaps a lieutenant did the dirty work and now has taken charge, in the not-so-honorable way of Islam. By the way, there was some report that a message intercepted out of Afghanistan (not specific as to who it was from) also contributed to the current alert.

I have great doubts that Bin Laden is even in Afghanistan.

Assuming that he is the mastermind behind these attacks, he is certain to have known what our response would be and has planned accordingly.

Imagine our frustration, if after six months of action, we are not able to find him, let alone verify if he is dead or live.

A very effective 'mind game'...

Here is Osama bin Laden and his black banner of Islam...

The flags read: "There is no God but God and Mohammed is the messenger of God."

As you know I for one do not believe that Ossama is still in Afganistan far more likely he is relaxing in a luxury condo some place planning to surface when many are convinced he is dead.

Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

Muhammad said: "If you see the black flags coming from Khurasan (Afghanistan),
join that army, even if you have to crawl over ice,
for that is the army of the Imam al-Mahdi
and no one can stop that army until it reaches Jerusalem."

...and no one can stop that army until it reaches Jerusalem.

And the small print reads "At which point, the Israeli Army will stop it dead..."
