Daily Prayer Thread 10/29/01

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people who are His very own, eager to do what is good. These then are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.” (Titus 2:11-15)

Heavenly Father, thank You for all the marvelous moments each of us have had today. Some were difficult and confusing, some painful…but our entire day was given to us by You. We have nothing apart from You…we are nothing without You. Thank You for bestowing upon us the right and privilege to call You, Our Father! Forgive us our sins, even though they are numerous and grievous in Your sight. Forgive us for times when we have not asked Your counsel and proceeded according to our own will. Bathe us in Your Son’s perfect sacrifice, so that we may continue to approach Your Throne of Grace and petition You for our needs and the needs of our brothers and sisters. Empower us, Mighty God, to stand in the face of evil and refuse to capitulate. Help us, Dear Lord, in all that we do, and give us the words and prayers to comfort, encourage and assist each other in the struggles we face now and will continue to face until the day You call us home.

Dearest Father, we have had many needs and concerns expressed on our prayer threads. I know You have already set in motion the answers to each and every one of these needs. I also know that the struggles and dangers many of us have been facing in recent weeks are being used by You to increase our faith and trust that You are in control of every aspect of our lives. Thank You Father for these lessons and blessings, for trials are indeed blessings as we increase in faith, perseverance and hope. Continue to encircle us with Your perfect protection as we work through these difficult issues and concepts, and surround our families, loved ones and friends with Your holy angels to comfort, console, guide and defend them from the evil which seeks to separate us from You. Sanctify each of us, Your prayer warriors, and strengthen us for what is to come. Let none of our number fall away or be dissuaded from faith…instead, allow our numbers to grow that we may take heart and courage from each other. Please keep FreeRepublic free from external forces which could take this very important means of communication from us. Shelter and shield all of our Freepers, Mighty God, for whether they are believers or not, we all hold very dear the freedoms that You have so generously given to us.

Father, protect, guide and inspire our President, Vice-President, and all those under their direction, especially our soldiers. Strengthen them and impart to each Your wisdom and influence. Inspire our people to rally in support of our leaders, and forbid that doubt or subterfuge from news sources weaken our resolve to bring to justice all those individuals responsible for harming and murdering mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, friends, co-workers and visitors in the WTC and throughout our land by their terrorist actions. Stretch forth Your mighty hand, Oh God, and expressly forbid the use of biochemical weapons and other weapons of mass destruction against those innocent of the crime of terrorism. Instead Father, if these terrorists will not turn from their evil, turn these weapons against them and let them be consumed by their own hate and malevolence. You have given to each person born a sense of right and wrong, even if they have not heard of You or Your Son, and thus no one can be held blameless for doing evil. For those who will pause and consider the morality of their actions, I ask Father that You encourage them through Your message of hope and righteousness. Protect them as they wrestle with their decisions, and bring them to safe harbor where they can learn more of You.

Thank You Father! In Jesus’ name I ask all these things…Amen!
