The following report is offered as an exclusive to FreeRepublic for the first week. It may publicized in our newsletter next month, but for now it is just going to be reported on FreeRepublic.

Afghan Christians Being Threatened and Harassed in North America

October 17, 2001 - Fairfax, VA - The Center of Peace and Hope in Christ (www.afghanbibles.com) has received a report of an Afghan Christian couple who have not yet revealed to their children that they have turned from Islam. Because of security risks, the exact location of the family in this report cannot be revealed. They fear that if they reveal their new faith in the teachings of the Bible, the children will mention it at school and that the Muslim community in this North American city will discover their "apostasy" from Islam. They fear that they would be the targets of reprisal from Muslims in the community.

"It's a long story of how we were involved in a near-death experience with them [in Asia], and how they were spared", revealed an American man who knows this family. Our source describes the North America city where this family lives as "nest of radicals".

The Center of Peace and Hope in Christ for Afghanistan has received a number of reports of Afghans and Americans in the United States who have been targets of Muslims who do not like the fact that Muslims are becoming followers of Christ. "Last year we received a report of an Afghan Muslim chasing an American Christian down the street in a mid-western city. The American man had visited Afghanistan and this Afghan tracked him down and began threatening the American man", reported John Marion, director of the center.

"In another city," Marion added, "two American Christian women were followed by two men from the local mosque as the women took two Afghan girls shopping. The two Afghan girls were from a family who has turned away from Islam and embraced the teachings of Jesus Christ."

The Center of Peace and Hope in Christ for Afghanistan has received five death threats since 1999. An unknown number of less specific threats and harassing messages have also come to the center. At least three of the death threats have come from Afghan Muslims. The other two death threats have come from Muslims of unknown national origin.

The center has issued a challenge to moderate Muslim leaders in the United States which can be found on their web site, www.afghanbibles.com

"Islam clearly teaches that any Muslim who turns from Islam and denies that Mohammed is a prophet should be killed for the sin of apostasy", Marion stated. "Even the most democratic, moderate forms of Islam calls for the death penalty for those who turn away from Islam", continued Marion. He added, "Unless the moderate Muslim leaders in the United States clearly denounce this aspect of their religion, then Islam is an ideology which in not compatible with the United States Constitution."

The Afghanis aren't Arabs, but the point is the same. Detain, interrogate, deport, especially troublemakers.

Based upon my personal experience with US residing foreign born Muslims and their attitudes towards America, I have to agree with you. Given their propensity towards aggression and ignorant self righteousness, and given their inability to deal personally with allegiance of any sort to America, and given their unwillingness to issue a definitive statement of condemnation against the sources of these attacks, I say deport them.

But how do we treat American born Left wingers and Muslims?

Muslim Arabs are not the only Muslims. A lot of Arabs in North America are from a Christian background. Arabs are a minority in the Muslim world. These are just a few facts which a lot of people don't seem to understand.

Without commenting on letf wingers in general for now, I have some ideas about American born Muslims. The big point is that no American has the right to call for the death of other Americans. American born Muslims do not have the right to call for the death of other Amercicans even if they were once Muslims who have turned from Islam.

I think we should try to force American Muslims to say that in America all Muslims have the right to decide their religion for themselves without fear of death threats if they decide to no longer be Muslims.

Solution: If I were a Muslim living in US and favored our position against the terrorists I would wear one of those red, white and blue turbans. Very cool. Semper Fi, Mike

The day after the bombing, a middle eastern man opened the door of the beauty shop where my daughter works and shouted angrily in a foreign language.

After reporting the first incident to the police, the women were told that other area businesses had made the same complaint. The police came out the first time.

This week, when a different middle eastern man opened the door and shouted at them in a threatening manner, the police dispatcher said, "What do you want us to do?"

My daughter had difficulty believing what the dispatcher said. She told the woman, "We want you to come out and try to catch the guy!"

The Sikhs are the ones who always wear turbans. There was one post about a Sikh man who was wearing a red, white, and blue turban. Most Muslims do not wear turbans most of the time, esp. in the west.

This story is a great illustration of the wisdom of the 2nd Amendment.

My father was a police officer for 35 years. The police do not exist to give us personal protection, period. Too many citizens think that the police are there to protect them when needed, but this is not true.

Set up a dummy ID for someone living just far enough away that people won't get too suspicious that they never heard of this person. Go around asking "Do you know anything about death threats to Mr. So-and-So at such-and-such address for having converted away from Islam?" Reel in any hotheads who target that address for death threats or attacks. Jail 'em if they're citizens; deport 'em if not.

(No, Mr. Dershowitz, it's not "entrapment" so long as the police don't suggest that the interviewee should engage in harassment or attacks.)

"I think we should try to force American Muslims to say that in America all Muslims have the right to decide their religion for themselves without fear of death threats if they decide to no longer be Muslims."

Problem with the word "force". You know as well as I do, that forcing somneone to abide by laws and conventions of society does not work. Honestly, such incidents like the one in the article should be investigated and the harassers punished to the fullest extent of the law. But, from what I know about Muslims, their ignorance of their own history leads them to hateful and aggressive behavior. Therefore, the option to deport or detain is the only logical solution. Aa for you comment about Arabs being in the minority of Muslim believers, that is true. However, it is the Arab Muslim element that has spearheaded the anti West, anti Christian agression we have witnessed recently. They are the ones with the money and connections and the ones financing the terrorist activities around the world.

WE NEED TO CUT OFF THE MONEY SUPPLY AND THAT MEANS NO MORE OIL IMPORTS FROM THOSE COUNTRIES SUPPORTING IN ANY FASHION SUCH ACTIONS!

My use of the word force refers mostly to the attempt to get "moderate" Muslims to speak out clearly about what they believe. If they really do believe that Islam is a religion of peace which is compatible with democracy, then they need to state that Muslims in America are free to believe what they want.

The point is that they are not speaking to this issue, but we need to keep bringing up the issue at every opportunity. The average American who believes Islam is a religion of peace will begin to see that these "moderate" Muslims are no where to be found.

Your suggestion is a good one. These guys can be smoked out here in the U.S. if only we have the political will. Does congress understand what is going on in the United States? Sometimes I wonder.

Former Muslims live in many places in the United States. Many of them tend to avoid living where they are easily accessible by established Muslim communities. For these former Muslims, America is not as free as we ourselves experience.
