MIAMI (AP) - The owner of a truck driving school says three Middle Eastern men came to him the afternoon of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and demanded rushed training for hauling hazardous materials.
Albert Hanley III, the owner of CDL School Inc., said FBI agents visited his Palm Beach County school on Thursday and Friday after he called them to report the men. Federal and state officials have been checking hazardous material haulers, fearing that terrorists could next launch a chemical or biological attack.
Hanley said that hours after hijacked planes slammed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, a Middle Eastern man called his school and said he and two others wanted to obtain hazardous materials training quickly.
The men arrived about 4 p.m. and told an employee they had been truckers in another country and wanted to begin training the next day. They said they needed to be in New York City within three days, Hanley said. Foreign truckers can complete the training in about eight to 10 hours, he said.
When the employee asked which country they were from, they wouldn't say and were reluctant to reveal their birth dates, addresses and other personal information, Hanley said. When told the school would check their driving records, they grabbed their licenses and applications and left, he said.
The school gave the FBI the employee's notes, including the men's names, an address and a phone number, Hanley said. The address and phone number turned out to be bogus, he said. He declined to release the men's names.
The FBI refused to comment.

These three men are idiots. Or they were told to get themselves out there as soon as the attacks happened. People for the feds to chase. They also could have just been enjoying the fruits of American life, and panic set in that they had not done their job.
It doesn't make sense. I talked to a guy with a hazmat cleanup operation, and he said that 3 tractor trailers filled with different chemicals were stolen several weeks before the attacks. The tractor trailers were eventually found, but they were missing the chemicals.
I think these people were in place and ready to do whatever dastardly deed they are here to do, before the attacks. The people that they are catching now, are just for show. IMHO.

Actually, silly me I guess I'm the only one that thought something this big could happen. Wow, that would make me a visionary. Not flaming, just saying that after Crinton/Gore, I knew that anything could happen.
Lets not forget another incident in addition to the ones you mentioned: The Los Alamos "missing" hard drives. I heard tell that they had the codes to arm and disarm nukes. I can't remember where I saw that, but it scared me to death. Sometimes fear makes you forget, sometimes it burns things into your mind.
