“...not to say the cultural impact of Braveheart...”

I happened to think about that movie yesterday, when I read about Scotland wanting to remain in the EU and be its vassal, its slave. None of the genes of William Wallace and his soldiers has survived to this time.

so perhaps the 6 legion replaced the 9... hmmm... or were they the same... just transposed.

i know i know... it would be VI and IX... but wouldn’t it be that far off of a theory.

My theory: The Ninth Legion was caught unawares by a rising sea level. So, yes. They were early victims of Global Warming.

It’s a great book for kids. Loved it.

The Legion was the “under dogs” against masses of savages.

Image result for Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall.

" east of the river Irthing the wall was made from brick shaped stone and measured 10 Roman feet (9.7 ft or 3 m) wide and 5 to 6 metres (16–20 ft) tall;
west of the river the wall was made from turf and measured 6 metres (20 ft) wide and 3.5 metres (11.5 ft) high."

They went north and were seduced by red-haired Scottish lassies and went native.

Have the book. Another book about a lost legion, the 13th, was banished by Caligula. The Lost Legion by H. Warner Munn is a good read.

So much better to be slaves to London? At least the Europeans don’t hate them the way the English do.

Legio IX Hispana

Iberian Legionaries fighting in Britain’s cold and gray wasteland.

There were 2 “walls” in Britain if you care.

Everybody knows about Hadrian’s Wall, but hardly anybody knows about the Antonine Wall (Vallum Antonini) built a few decades later. Not much of it exists anymore.

For what it’s worth, I believe the Romans would have used VIIII for 9. IX was a medieval innovation.

yeah, I’ve seen trainspotting... The socialist welfare state has erased any capability of Scots taking care of themselves.

“So much better to be slaves to London?”

Scotland has contributed many leaders to the UK.
