My great x3 grandfather was just a foot soldier in the Rev. War. He and his 4 brothers signed up after being in St. John’s Church hearing Patrick Henry - more than any other family in Hanover County, VA.

He served under a Capt. Winston, and guarded prisoners for Lafayette.

He is buried on his 2,000 acre land grant farm in Macon County, TN after he claimed his grant as a Rev. War vet in 1802. He was born in Hanover County, VA not far from where I live in 1748 and died in 1850.

The Fed. Gov. put a monument on his gravesite about 5 or so years ago.

I only learned of this in 1975 when I received a copy of his official federal Rev. War Pension application written in 1832 after the gov. offered all Rev. War vets a $40/year pension if they could provide evidence of their service. He did, and I have a copy of it.

He is my hero.
