Five 2nd term Democratic Presidents got USA into war in the last 100 years.

Wilson WWI

FDR WW II

Truman Korea

Johnson Vietnam (full escalation after the Gulf of Tonkin incident)

Clinton War on Terror as he was the cause of the problems in Iraq and 911 in NYC

Democrat’s foreign policy is like a parent raising a child and never enforcing what they say. They finally have a knock down drag out with them as a teenager!

My Uncle was on the Forrestal. He even marched in Richard Nixon’s inauguration parade.

Wasn't McCain aboard at the time? No,I'm not blaming him...that's about the only thing he *can't* be blamed for.I'm an old Army guy but I gladly give credit to all those brave sailors who fought that fire. And I just as surely salute the ones who perished.

My brother was on it too during the fire.

I had a friend on that ship. He lost a lot of “mates”. If he ever started calling anyone “mate”, I knew he was upset - other than that, he didn’t talk about it much.

If I recall correctly, McCain was on the Forrestal, sitting in his airplane on the flight deck, when it was hit by a Zuni missile launched inadvertently due to an electrical problem, which set-off the fire.

The munition malfunction that started the fire came from McCain's A4.

Not saying it was his fault, just that it started literally under his seat.

You are correct.

The rocket flew across the flight deck, striking a wing-mounted external fuel tank on an A-4E Skyhawk awaiting launch,[1] aircraft No. 405 from VA-46, piloted by Lieutenant Commander Fred D. White.[2][13] The Zuni rocket's warhead safety mechanism prevented it from detonating, but the impact tore the tank off the wing and ignited the resulting spray of escaping JP-5 fuel, causing an instantaneous conflagration. Within seconds, other external fuel tanks on White's aircraft overheated and ruptured, releasing more jet fuel to feed the flames, which began spreading along the flight deck. The impact of the rocket had also dislodged two of the 1000-lb AN-M65 bombs, which fell to the deck, and lay in the pool of burning fuel between White's aircraft and that of Lieutenant Commander John McCain. Damage Control Team No. 8 swung into action immediately, and Chief Gerald Farrier, recognizing the risk, and without the benefit of protective clothing, immediately smothered the bombs with a PKP fire extinguisher in an effort to knock down the fuel fire long enough to allow the pilots to escape. The pilots, still strapped into their aircraft, were immediately aware that a disaster was unfolding, but only some were able to escape in time. McCain, pilot of A-4 Skyhawk side No. 416, next to White's, was among the first to notice the flames, and escaped by scrambling down the nose of his A-4 and jumping off the refueling probe shortly before the explosions began.

The perennial question is how if at all was he involved. I think none was his fault but there are some here who believe he was.

BTW can’t stand that RINO.

I also marched in Richard Nixon's inauguration parade as a member of the Whittier (Calif.) High School band.

Rumor has it amidst the fire, some bad things happened. Looting of the dead and summary justice adding to the death toll. Ship life on Forrestal, Kitty Hawk and Midway in Viet Nam era was conflicted.

I was on the USS Valley Forge in that era, off the coast of Nam. The Valley Forge was a WW2 carrier that was re-fitted as an LPH. We had a crew in the thousands along with thousands of Marines.

There were no problems... Why would it be different on other cariers? I would say the “rumors” are wrong.
