Each time I read a book or view a documentary about the Third Army and the Battle of the Bulge, I learn something about my dad.
Thanks for posting.

The Battling Bastards of the Bastion of Bastogne.
That was the headline of a newspaper during the battle.
I had a great aunt who saved papers with headlines of important events.
She had them all.
FDR’s elections, Pearl Harbor, the invasions and battles, VE day, VJ day.
She would break them out to teach me history, spelling and grammar.
All were lost in a house fire in 68.

I was home from grade school with the measles during the Battle, so I followed the news on the radio all day. I tried plotting the battle on a map, but the news wasn't detailed enough.
