A non-profit based out of Clever, Mo., the SSFOA’s primary mission is to support and recognize veterans who are wounded, injured, or have acquired an illness related to their service in a combat zone—regardless of service branch or military conflict. After sources recently revealed that the Phoenix VA hospital maintained a secret ‘wait list,’ the VA has fallen under greater scrutiny, resulting in allegations that delays in medical appointments and treatment have led to the unncecesary deaths of several veterans. “The VA has the ability to authorize medical treatmeant outside of the VA network when—according to their own website—there is a ‘lack of available specialiasts, long wait times’ or, in certain circumstances, the medical treatment provided by the VA is located an ‘extroardinary distance from the veteran’s home,’” said Steve Newton, CEO and founder of the SSFOA.
“Had the Non-VA Care Program been appropriately utilized by the Phoenix VA and at other facilities, the wait times would never have become an issue” Newton added. “However, moving forward, I believe we can best serve our veterans and mitigate any wait times by authorizing medical care outside of the VA hospitals.”
U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, an Army veteran and member the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, has recently cosponsored the Veteran-Centered Access to Coordinated Health Care Act, H.R. 3858, which would help the VA improve access to care by expanding its ability to enter into contracts with non-VA providers.

A real letter not just a call or e-mail.
They usually respond. Usually with a form letter, but, they see them.

Not that it will do any good. I am so sick of this stuff.

Its simple. Close the VA. It’s not needed. There are very few Vets. And they would get faster more convenient care in a regular hospital or clinic.
Give every Vet free premium health insurance for life. If they have seen combat or been in the service for more than ten years they should not pay a dime for any medical treatment they need.
That would be far cheaper and better treatment.
Sigh. Maybe. But there are more vets than you know. I wish I knew. I would be all over it.
