The movie “Gettysburg” is a good film.
Martin Sheen as Lee is awful.
Robert Duvall as Lee would have made this a great film.
I wasn’t that struck by Duvall as Lee in Gods and Generals but perhaps that is because he got so little screen time. It seemed pretty much that the entire movie was the “Stonewall Jackson Story.” However, that might have been due to the way Shaara wrote G&G (from having read Gone for Soldiers and Last Full Measure I know that he often does have most of the book seen through one person’s eyes).
