There are a few Leftists in EVERY organization, even the Marine Corps (See Oswald, Lee, Harvey, Private) but I doubt if the response will be overwhelming.

BTW, I am not a veteran of the Marine Corps. I was in the 2nd United States Infantry Division, in the US Army. My late father was a career Marine (Commo Chief, Gysgt., 1943-65) but not me. I think some people get confused because there is also a 2nd Division in the USMC. BTW, the 2nd US Inf. Division was commanded several times by Marines in World War I, the only Army division with that distinction.

If McVeigh was still around, I’m sure he would be down there with them.

I think Marine Sgt. Shamar Thomas didn't tell and no one asked.

If "Marine Sgt. Shamar Thomas" is actually a Marine, he is right.

Personally, I would think that a Marine would not be wearing a partial uniform in downtown NYC.

This is BS. The “occupymarines” and occupypolice” websites are affiliated with Brad Friedbman, a washed up former actor who is to the left of Fidel Castro. Brad can often be heard on some of the furthest to the left radio shows, etc. and his web sites here:

If CBS is reporting this as grassroots - THEY HAVE BEEN HAD!

Dont’ believe there is a single Marine involved in that web site.

The left makes stuff up every day. Now they have a “occupypolice” web site.

They’re casting about for a General Smedley Butler. He was the lefty ex-USMC general who supported the bonus army. He won perhaps the phoniest “Medal of Honor” in history for his weekend in Vera Cruz, Mexico, when more than 20 MOHs were granted for political reasons for a popular in the USA spanking of the Mexicans. It was a weekend skirmish over forcing the Mexicans to raise and salute a giant US flag in their square, which they refused, leading to a brief invasion by a company or two of Marines. One or two died, and over 20 MOHs were granted, among them Butler’s. He rode that phony MOH to fame and glory. Sort of like an early John Kerry with the Swiftboats later. The OWS crowd really wants some military veterans in their crowd as camouflage.

This is another “serivices in kind campaign contribution” worth around $300 from CBS. Too bad we don’t have an author to see if that person listed this on the campaign contribution form .

Scott Olsen is the former Marine who has been in the news since he was injured at Occupy Oakland. It seems that everyone is hailing him as a hero in Iraq. If you read his Linkedln resume, his job was in IT there.

I read that he was discharged from Marine Corps with an OTH.

AND...just found this on another site:

Noticed your reference to Army/Marines in The Great War—here is a tidbit of history from a webpage I did on WW I Marines and Army—as mentioned, Marines did command Army units, but Army officers also commanded Marine units; and, in at least one case, an army officer even wore the Globe and Anchor emblems while commanding Marines!

*****
“WORLD WAR ONE MARINES
“Pershing was mercilessly thinning the ranks of senior officers he considered too old or infirm for field command. Brigadier General Doyen was one of the casualties. He was invalided home and replaced by a Pershing favorite, Army Brig. Gen. James Harbord. Harbord had been Pershing’s chief of staff and he had gone from major to brigadier general in a year. Col. Buck Neville, now the commander of the 5th Marines and far senior to Harbord at the war’s beginning, had every reason to think that he should have been given command of the brigade. On Harbord’s arrival, when Neville handed him a pair of Marine Corps emblems, it was half a greeting, half a challenge. Harbord promptly put them on his collar....On Bastille day, 14 July, Harbord, a jaunty hybrid in his poilu’s helmet and Marine emblems, moved up to command of the 2d Division. Buck Neville took over the Marine brigade and would soon be promoted to brigadier general.”

Since you are familiar with both Army and Marines, thought this may be of interest to ya...
