Why is America Discussing Sonia Sotomayor?- Vanity

Why is America Discussing Sonia Sotomayor? President Obama is within his Constitutional purview to nominate anyone he wants as a Supreme Court nominee, even Sonia Sotomayor. He could have nominated Bozo the Clown or a “died in the wool” Communist like Bill Ayres, which he would have been more inclined to do. The fact is that that during the space of time between Obama’s announcement of her as a nominee and her confirmation hearings, she has, very publicly, had her judgment overturned regarding the firefighters in Connecticut. Those who overturned Sotomayer’s verdict knew exactly what they were doing and were giving her a black eye to sport during her hearings. Think of it as her peers offering their recommendation for her and passing it loud enough for the rest of us to hear. The case was essentially a case of sanctioned, preferential treatment based on race. It is not difficult to understand her motivation as the decision and the parameters, on which it was predicated, are clear. Her recorded, outlandish statements regarding “judges making policy” and how she, as a Porto Rican woman is endowed with something, in terms of legal insight, superior to white males, are simply astounding. Her past behavior renders her unfit to be seated on any Court, of any kind yet that concept does not appear to be germane to her nomination. Since Obama has taken office, reality has had to take a back seat to propaganda on many levels; Sonya Sotomayor is simply a “next step” in the procession. Who would have ever imagined that the Feds would own controlling interest in GM or AIG much less pass a vote on a trillion dollar Stimulus Bill that no one had read. After the Stimulus vote was taken, people discussed the merits of it as though it were legitimate. Our Lawmakers just passed the largest spending package in history, they did so during a recession, they were not allowed to read it and Americans discuss it as though it has some degree of legitimacy. In the world of altered reality that has been presented to us by Congressional Leadership, Sotomayor just fits right it! Rather than dismiss Sotomayor as so far off the legitimate radar of mainstream American values, people are discussing and debating her potential as a Supreme Court Judge. Has anyone asked how or why Americans feel compelled to abide by ludicrous propositions simply because their leadership has presented them? The merits of Sotomayor are not the issue. The issue is that Americans have become so dominated and led that they no longer believe in their own ability to ascertain reality in a given situation. Sotomayor will probably get her confirmation. We, all Americans will have to live with that and she is exactly what Americans deserve. At one time, simply contemplating the assets and liabilities of someone like her would have brought about no end of resistance. Today, in Obama world, people are so shell-shocked that they actually take it seriously when told to do so as all traces of independent thinking are becoming systematically extinguished.

Well, the discussing is a good thing, as the truth about her views and record are being shown the light of day.

Since you don't know how to use Paragraphs I won't read your whole post. However it sounds as if you are saying just because the idiot in Chief nominated someone we are supposed to just give them a pass? Is that it? That's not the way it works, and has never worked that way. The dimwits didn't pass most of Bush's nominees for anything, let alone judges. He had to appoint Bolton on a recess appointment to get him in office.

We need to discuss this racist, "wise Latina's" past decisions and ramblings in order to determine if she is a fit judge or not. So far she is found wanting by intelligent people, that of course leaves out any liberals in the legislature.

It’s “dyed” in the wool. Sorry, I’m a little ADD and without paragraphs I lost focus. I can fix it if you like.

Thank you for saving me the time of writing a response. Well said.

I’ll just add this: The judiciary is one of the three co-equal branches of government, and the SCOTUS is the top of that branch. The nine justices are appointed for life, unlike the members of the other two branches. So if this ##### doesn’t think an appointment to the SCOTUS is discussion worthy, then he/she has no clue.

The more I know about her the more she seems much like a number of the personalities already on the court; that is, she is verifiably kooky. It’s terrible to realize that she is moderate-left compared to what Obama has waiting in the wings.

The libs in the senate blocked Robert Bork's nomination and by any standard he was miles above the "wise latina", and Clarence Thomas went through h*ll in confirmation. If the "wise latina" wants to legislate from the bench and hand down racist rulings, calously messing up people's careers than she'd bloody well better be grilled in confirmation. I expect the libs will get her in but the GOP better not just roll over here or they prove they stand for nothing.

I met Judge Bork, he is one of the best speakers that I have ever heard. He is an obama stimulus package better than Sonia.

...This might be the only thing that POTUS Obeelsobozo has done that is legal to do. The Constitution grants that power. He has shat on all the rest of it...

...Up to US to see this Latina is disqualified to be a SCOTUS...

Since you didn't bother to read the entire article you didn't get the full meaning. The author stated very clearly that Sonya Sotomayer is just the next step in Obama’s outrageous procession of unacceptable proposals before the American people. Compared to the others, this one seems tame. If you had the patience to excuse a computer error, instead of being so quick to criticize, you would have benefited from a well thought out article. Shame on you.

Don’t worry. There’s one Law that the American public is betting on that will stand defiant against the Congress’s OR the Supreme Court’s contrary wishes: The Laws of Physics... more specifically, Newton’s Laws of Motion.

Why do I say this? Because it is quite obvious that the “ruling elite” have little to no regard to what the People need. How else can you justify the record number of firearm and ammunition sales?

The point is that if these people fail to recognize the Constitution as The Supreme Law of the Land (regardless and independent of legal-twistings)... if there is no justice to/on/for the frauds, perjurers, traitors, and incompetents (on the behalf of the People) then “it is their Right, their Duty, to abolish it.”

These are the same sort of things that the Declaration of Independence was written about.
