Oooo, that makes it reeeeeaallly interesting! An angel appearing to him in the form of an Indian? Now you must tell me, American or Asian?

(as in, what subtext would an angel have for appearing to a -- I presumed -- liberal caucasian professor and an Indian?)

If the angel or messenger of God had been a white caucasian it would have been easier for the professor to dismiss him as just another nutty fundamentalist. The fact that he told the story to the class indicates to me that the Indian gentleman did make an impression. Christian Indians are few, and I imagine there is a price to pay for being a Christian in India. Such a man would be harder to ignore. IMHO.
