But when were the names written in the book?
Rev. 17:8That doesn't leave much room for us to "write our own entries"."The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come."
Well, God knew everyone who would be born alive, and if you don't accept His Son as Savior, you will be taken out of the book of life, but your reply doesn't answer my original question.
Yes, but doesn't this kind of reasoning merely place God in the same linear, restricted timeline that you and I live in?
I would seem to me that God is completely outside of time, which would enable Him to write names into the Book of Life at the same "moment" if you will that He sees a person in 2003 A.D. give his or her life to Christ. Thus, the fact that the names are written in the Book of Life before the foundation of the world, in our timeline, has little or no bearing on when God actually wrote those names.
