NY Times Article Portrays Mel Gibson as Anti Rome

"Mel Gibson is furious at the New York Times over a story that will depict him as a pope-hating, conspiracy-minded cultist.
Gibson went on Bill O'Reilly's show in January claiming reporter Christopher Noxon was doing a 'hit piece' on him and 'digging into [his] private life . . . getting into [his] banking affairs . . . harassing [his] family, including my 85-year-old father.'"
According to the Post, which has seen the advance of an article that it says will appear in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, Noxon claims that the actor embraces an "ultra-traditional strain of Catholicism rooted in the dictates of a 16th-century papal council and nurtured by a splinter group of conspiracy-minded Catholics, mystics, monarchists, and disaffected conservatives. Such traditionalists disdain the Second Vatican Council, say Mass in Latin, and fast on Fridays."
Gibson has been in the news for the making of a major movie called The Passion, based on the Crucifixion with dialogue in ancient Aramaic as well as Latin [see previous story]. It is alleged by the Times that the actor's father, Hutton Gibson, has railed against the Vatican for several decades and has written such books as, Is the Pope Catholic?
We have not seen this book and if true it's not clear which Pope this may involve.
However, according to the report -- sure to reverberate across the Catholic landscape -- the elder Gibson told Noxon that Vatican II was "a Masonic plot backed by the Jews" and called Pope John Paul II a name, criticizing an incident in which the Pope, seeking to bridge the gap with Muslims, honored a tradition upon visiting a mosque by kissing the Koran.
The actor himself has never expressed such views publicly -- at least not that stridently -- and has financed the movie to the tune of $25 million. Those close to the actor say that it will "graphically portray the intense suffering of Christ, perhaps as no film has before" and lay the blame for Christ's death "where it belongs." Noxon asserts the movie will revive the charge that it was the Jews who killed Jesus.
Let's pray that Gibson is not being attacked simply for his involvement in such a powerful film, and also that he does not have anti-Vatican views, as perhaps unfairly alleged.

On last night's program, Bill O'Reilly lambasted the NY Times over this story. Thought you might like to join in the fun.

If Mel Gibson attends an SSPX Mass, and follows the lunatic rantings of Richard Williamson, he's no friend of Rome.

Do you have any proof of those things? That contradicts what I've read. How would you like it if the NYT said Sinkspur is a ``pope-hating, conspiracy-minded cultist?'' What does the NYT know about Catholicism anyway? You should know full well that most schismatics are only too happy to mae it know, so why would you doubt him? Let's all remember this is Lent.

Actually, I think the Church, not Gibson or his Dad, will be the real target of this article. There are many powerful folks(? globalists, Gramscians, high level Masons) who want to stir up a schism one way or another...as if the unofficial one isn't bad enough. We have seen proof in the EPA population control reports that there is an agenda and the NYT has been the mouth piece for this agenda for decades.
Mel Gibson's Dad sounds really interesting.

Sounds like it to me.

Sounds like it to me.What sound is that? In all the other articles I've read, he has denied being in a schismatic group. I repeat: do you know any schismatics that hide their affiliation. Does merely liking the Latin Mass make one a schismatic? If you believe that then you believe that John Paul II is a schismatic, which would make you one too. Since when was the NYT given the authority to excommunicate?
To: sinkspur
If your going to make that kind of accusation, could you give some proof? (do you know this is Lent?)
To: nickcarraway
In all the other articles I've read, he has denied being in a schismatic group. Our very own ultima ratio denies being in a schismatic group, too.

Do we know he is?
To: sinkspur
Of course some people deny being in a schismatic group- they think we've schismed from them- but it's clear they don't believe they are part of the same Church.

Haven't you ever met an entertaining and vibrant elderly person who didn't hold back his/her opinions? Often they have very controversial positions and old grudges/prejudices(not to condone them) but their age lets them climb onto the soapbox freely...one of the few things to look forward to in your eighties!
Some of my funniest childhood memories are of elderly relatives and their points of view.

Why is the onus of proving he is schismatic on Mel Gibson? Why are you so into being devisive instead of uniting? Each person is ultimately in charge of their own soul. I don't know why it's so important to you to know where all these souls are. Why can't you give some the benefit of the doubt?

No mention of an author named Gibson. This is not sloppy reporting by the NYT; it's deliberate lying. This article has as much validity as sinkspur's contention about HDMZ.
Does anyone actually know what is? (i.e. Indultist, schismatic/SSPX member, or sedvecantist) I read the page six article last night about him and looked all over the internet to try and find out what group he aligns himself with and I was unable to find out much if any useful information.
The only leads I have so far are that both Gibson's sister and his only daughter are nuns. I couldn't find which order they belonged to however, but if someone was able to dig up this information we could more accurately categorize what group(s) Gibson is involved with.
Another thing I found out is that Gibson had a chapel built on his Malibu property (I think its called the Holy Ghost Chapel or something like that) and if someone could find some info on this chapel and the priest who says mass there we would be able to figure out what's going on.
