Napoleon marched through Rome ?
——>Napoleon marched through Rome ?
Yep.
On February 10, 1798, Napoleon’s General Berthier entered Rome, took the Pope prisoner, abolished the Papal government, and established a secular one, and declared a new Roman Republic. That ended the temporal persecuting power of the Papacy.
Here’s another fun fact: The Papacy took power in February of 538 and lost that persecuting power EXACTLY 1260 years later, to the month.
