Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem
Heavenly Father,
How we Love You,
And Praise Your Holy Name.
Wonderful, Counselor
Almighty God!
How Wonderful To Behold You,
Oh LORD
In Awe and Wonder
We Gaze Upon Your Glory,
Arise and Shine,
For Your Glory Surrounds us!
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

The King James Version
First of All, here is the Link to Today's Musical Passage from Handel's Messiah. It consists of two verses from the Prophet Isaiah that often adorn Christmas Cards.
The Verse about the Virgin bearing a Son has been discussed for centuries. The Hebrew word alma, meaning "virgin" can also be translated as "maiden" or "young woman", so naturally there are scholars who will argue that "young woman" is the correct translation of the verse. But that begs the question: Why would a young woman having a baby be considered a "sign" (miracle)? Young women have babies all the time.
Further research on this leads to the Septuagint, a 3rd Century BC Translation of the Old Testament into Koine Greek, so that Greek-Speaking Jews could read their own Bible. The Translation was accomplished by 70 Hebrew Scholars (hence the name of the translation) and they used the Greek Word Parthenos (παρθένος) which means "virgin" in the original sense of the word. Since the Ancient Greeks believed that their goddess Athena was a virgin, they used the term "Parthenos (παρθένος)" to describe her, and named her big temple the Parthenon. (I'm sure you've heard of that one LOL). I am pretty sure that 70 renowned Hebrew Scholars of the Jewish Religion would know how to translate their own Scriptures.
The rendition today is a wonderful Contralto and a huge choir. This is one of my favorite melodies from Handel's Messiah. Enjoy.

Psalm 27
Of David.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold* of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When evildoers assail me
to devour my flesh—
my adversaries and foes—
they shall stumble and fall.
3 Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me,
yet I will be confident.
4 One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.
5 For he will hide me in his shelter
in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
he will set me high on a rock.
6 Now my head is lifted up
above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud,
be gracious to me and answer me!
8 ‘Come,’ my heart says, ‘seek his face!’
Your face, Lord, do I seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me.
Do not turn your servant away in anger,
you who have been my help.
Do not cast me off, do not forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 If my father and mother forsake me,
the Lord will take me up.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.
12 Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries,
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they are breathing out violence.
13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord!
