French Catholic Church inquiry finds “veil of silence” hid abuse of 216,000 minors over 5 decades
Paris — An independent inquiry into alleged sex abuse of minors by French Catholic priests, deacons and other clergy has found some 216,000 victims from 1950 to 2020, a “massive phenomenon” that was covered up for decades by a “veil of silence.”
The landmark report, released Tuesday after two and a half years of investigations, follows widespread outrage over a string of sex abuse claims and prosecutions against Church officials around the globe. But as CBS News correspondent Chris Livesay reports, the French inquiry involves not only the latest revelations about abuse by Catholic clergy, but possibly highest number of victims ever identified by reports and investigations that have been carried out worldwide.
When lay members of the Church such as teachers at Catholic schools are included, the number of child abuse victims climbs to 330,000 over the seven-decade period.

Yet, it appears with all the supposed “bias” against the catholic church, it seems the catholic church sexual abuse posts are off limits to those such as Morgana. Who posts non stop with her own bias directed towards non catholic sex abuse clergy. All in an effort to denigrate Protestant Christians.
So I am simply posting in a balanced non bias response.

The Catholic church which claims to take the moral high ground by refusing to let divorced couples who got remarried take communion because they are guilty of ongoing serious, mortal sin, yet allows priests who are engaged in far more heinous sin than garden variety adultery, perform the sacrifice of the mass, serve communion and are the only ones allowed to handle the host, and administer other sacraments that are considered valid, even while living a lifestyle of molesting children.
Priests get a pass while laity is condemned to hellfire.
The hypocrisy of that position is staggering.
Mine is NOT a “deflection” or a “justification”, rather a simple request for equal justice and outrage at abuse wherever it occurs.

And frankly, you don’t know what *equal justice or outrage* is because nobody knows enough details to make that determination.
And yes, it is deflection when the knee jerk reaction by Catholics is to do the *Look! A squirrel* response to any article casting Catholicism in a negative light. Immediately pointing out wrongdoing by others as if that justifies the actions of the priests is deflection.
