The Texas Rangers are World Series Champions for the first time in the franchise's 63-year history after beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 on Wednesday in Game 5. And many of the players have remained thankful to God for their success in the post season.

"Anyone that interviews me or gives me an opportunity to speak, God's going to receive the glory," said Tony Beasley, the longest-tenured Rangers coach, recently.

Winning the World Series is a first for many of the players and coaches including rookies Evan Carter and Josh Jung.

"Excitement, joy, all of it," Jung said Wednesday night. "I can't even process all of the emotions. It's just, 'Wow, we did it.'"

Just two months ago, Carter wasn't even on the roster, spending most of the season in the minor leagues. But by the time the postseason started a month later he was a starter and the number 3 hitter, Sports Spectrum reports.

A core group of veterans led the way to victory, but Carter and Jung played a crucial role in the team's historic run, which included an 11-0 record during road games during the series, according to the outlet.

And their faith has been on full display the entire season.

Jung's bio on X reads, "Baseball is what I do, not who I am," and "Competitor for Christ."

"I gave my life to Christ my freshman year of high school, and then my freshman year of college was the first time I took that step of a personal journey with Him," Jung told HisHuddle.com in December 2020. "My three years in college were awesome in many ways, but the thing that really hit home with me are the memories from sharing my story with God to others."

Carter grew up in a Christian family in Elizabethton, Tennessee, and participated in his church's youth group, Church Leaders reports.

His youth minister and coach, Jason Holly, told Baptist Press that Carter was a "phenomenal athlete," but "with his faith, he's always stayed steady."

Holly said Carter was always "grounded on the Lord, and he had his eyes, his ears, and his heart the right way."

Just before Carter was called up to the major leagues to play, he told reporters he was grateful to God for the opportunity to play on his childhood's favorite team.

The Texas Rangers organization shared "Evan Carter has arrived" on their Facebook page with photos of Carter in his "Jesus Won" T-shirt.

As Carter became more popular, people began asking for the shirts. So he and his wife, Kaylen, partnered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, who originally made the shirt, to sell more.

"Our mission is to use the platform that baseball has blessed us with to give back to our community in Carter County, TN. Proceeds from your purchase of a Jesus Won t-shirt will jointly benefit two incredible programs in our community," Carter wrote on Instagram promoting the T-shirts.

Kaylen opened up to reporters about the couple's faith in God saying, "All the glory to God," she said. "Without him, we wouldn't be here."

The Christian faith of Rangers Pitcher Jose Leclerc has also been on display in the World Series as he boldly proclaimed "Jesus Won" with the same T-shirt that Carter wears:

Meanwhile, many Rangers fans are posting on social media about one reason they've supported the team so fervently. They point out that the Rangers were the only MLB team that refused to host LGBT Pride night, and they're grateful the organization honored God in that way.

If God is responsible for the wins then he is also responsible for the losses. I don’t recall too many athletes saying “God is why we lost”

I always thought Kevin Costner’s line in “For Love of the Game”
was profound: “Lord, I always said I would never involve you in a baseball game, You enough to take care of.” In ‘84 when the Detroit Tigers started the season at 35-5 people were saying “God wants the Tigers to win.” Maybe. Maybe He wanted the Rangers to win their first championship. I don’t know, glad the Rangers won.

10 A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. God Bless Texas and his Rangers!

I hear you!! Victory belongs to Jesus Christ. It’s a blessing to see people acknowledge that. Even losses can be a blessing even if we don’t understand it. God can!

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

What Costner’s character is missing is that God is big enough to take care of it all and then some. Yes, I’m so glad the Rangers win, too. The only MLB team to reject the homosexual pride garbage!

“I don’t recall too many athletes saying “God is why we lost”

Nobody should pray to win or lose. They pray that God helps them play their best and no one gets injured.

People have, over the years, lost touch with what God does in their lives. God doesn’t play baseball. People do. God’s business is in salvation, not a win loss record.

Goody for them but shouldn’t we be paying attention what is going on with our nation and how to fix it? Sports are a distractor to what is going on at Foggy Bottom. When the swamp wants to do something they have their distractors to get you to look the other way plain and simple. I couldn’t care less about any professional sport because if we lose this country there will be nothing. Wake up and quit watching grown men in Nickers running around slapping each other in the ass while making millions.

I agree. The only way we’re going to fix our problems at this point is by God’s guidance and divine intervention. I’m too busy praying and working to watch sports, but I love to see a team rewarded after taking a righteous stand. I pray other teams (and businesses, schools, organizations, etc.) follow their lead.

2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

For America As A Nation Who Has Lost Its Way

Loving Lord, I come to You to place the once great nation of United States of America at Your feet, knowing that our great country and it’s constitution was made for a moral and religious people and is wholly inadequate for any other form of government, and yet we have strayed so far from the principles and practices of our great founders, who drew up our constitution based on Your Word.

But Lord, although this was once the land of the brave and the home of the free, sadly there is so much that is wrong with our country that I fear for its future. Lord, as a people we have walked away from You and discredited Your holy name by the way that we have conducted ourselves over the past few years and there is no health in our land.

Look down in pity on our people and our land, and protect us from those that seem determined on destroying our nation. Send Your Spirit I pray, through the land of America, and touch the hearts of all those that are called by Your name to plead on behalf our people. Convict those that are damaging our infrastructure and as a nation may we turn away from our wicked ways and return You to Your rightful position, in integrity and truth.

I ask this in Jesus’ name,

Amen.

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”
(Matthew 5:13)

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
(Isaiah 53:6)

“Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.”
(Zephaniah 2:3)

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”
(Acts 3:19)

“And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;”
(Daniel 9:4)

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.”
(Jonah 3:5)

“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”
(Jonah 3:10)

“And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”
(Revelation 11:18)

“In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.”
(Jeremiah 3:18)
