Report: ‘Christianity Today’ Staffers Donate Exclusively to Democrats
Protestia ^ | October 12, 2023 | staff

A new report by Megan Basham shows what we’ve all known to be the case, that “Christianity Today Staff Made Extensive Campaign Donations Between 2015 And 2022…All Went To Democrats”

We’ve rarely been friendly toward CT, and with good reason. Led by the vexatious Russell Moore, they’re the progressive rag known for virtue-twerking and giving a platform to every weird and liberally insidious bent.

They carried op-ed’s by Karen Swallow Prior saying it was un-Christlike to call women who killed their babies ‘murderers’ because abortion is not murder, had a lesbian Roman Catholic write about her masturbation habits, comparing masturbation to worship and describing Christianity as a “erotic” religion.

They came swinging against the violence at Capitol Hill on January 6th, laying the responsibility for the mayhem at the feet of the “white American church” and any leaders who voted for and supported the President.

They proclaimed that anyone who voted for the GOP was an inherent racist who was committing “politically motivated spiritual violence” against black folk.

They released editorials calling Trump voters “jobless” and “uneducated,” with former Editor-in-Chief Mark Galli explaining that he didn’t even know any Trump supporters, and the next Editor-in-Chief comparing any churches being open during COVID to engaging in “snake handling.”

Despite their smug pedigree, mere months ago, Christianity Today was rocked by a major scandal, revealing that ‘sexual harassment went unchecked’ at the company for a decade, all the while they preened as our moral betters.

And true to form, they really like donating to Democrats, with Basham noting:

“Between 2015 and 2022, nine Christianity Today employees made 73 political donations. All of them went to Democrats. This tally includes President and CEO Timothy Dalrymple, who gave $300 in two separate payments to failed Georgia Senate candidate Sarah Riggs Amico.

Amico’s platform, which includes protecting abortion “without exception” and repealing the Hyde Amendment to allow federal tax dollars to fund abortions, contrasts sharply with the views of evangelicals who overwhelmingly say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases. She is also at odds with traditional Christian beliefs when it comes to gender, sexuality, and religious liberty.”

and

“Between October 2019 and November 2020, news editor Daniel Silliman made eight donations to five different pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ candidates, among them, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign.”

This is not the only supposedly Christian organization donating to Democrats. As we’ve previously reported, Lifeway Employee Political Contributions Favor Democrats 4:1

No surprise. Didn’t they used to be evangelical?

I’m not surprised

Liberals and Leftists took over a lot of Church organizations

I worked with some 15 years ago

Quoting / Reading the Bible was something that they did not do

I Thank God I don’t need any organizations to be saved, only Jesus.

While initially shocking, it really shouldn’t be, because Christianity itself has been taken over for subversive purposes.

Not shocking at all, it was obviously turned a long times ago. Anything good is a target

I haven’t read it for thirty years. Wow, has it taken a bad turn. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. It seems that for some time, many evangelicals, as well as some other Christians, have been going about the business of constantly reinventing themselves, shaping themselves to be more relevant to the times, which really means compromise and accommodation to secularism.

You could get a draft deferment during VN by going to seminary; when they got out, the phonies discovered that minister jobs often paid quite well which is how the Protestant mainline branches got overwhelmed with leftists in their pulpits.

“Used to be” is the correct phrase. It is sad.

I don’t know if it was ever good. My mom used to get that back in the 80’s or 90s.

Now it is clearly run by anti-Christians.

Indeed, because you can’t be Christian and leftist.

I bet they can tell you where to get a decent $10 latte before you go to the Sunday morning pop concert masquerading as church. I wouldn’t trust to know anything about anything beyond that.

I went to the company “church” service each month - for two and a half years.

It was on company time so double good.

Lots of praise and worship - not once in all that time did anyone ever crack a Bible and read from it.

Maybe, maybe one guy who traveled but I can’t remember anything outside of possibly that.

Gary North nailed it. The dominant theme of Christianity Today is "Trendier than thou."

Are they anything at all these days? I haven't seen an actual print copy of it for decades.
