Dennis Prager suggests that the word translated “Take” can also be translated “Carry.”
One carries “the name of the Lord in vain” when they publicly and loudly proclaim that they are a Christian but overtly never act like it.
Prager suggests this does the greatest harm to Christianity.
Prager is a great source for learning about the Bible. I agree that a false pretension of faith is very damaging to Christianity.
I am seeing it in great quantities lately. Many Christians in name only. I guess I've been naive on this subject heretofore.
