Mind boggling thought!
The writer of the article commits an error in his analysis of probability and when an event will happen.
He calculates an incredibly low probability for the event in which the atoms of the universe are in the proper orientation to lead to the formation of life. Then, he argues that it is an impossibility for that event to occur since the universe has not existed for the calculated required amount of time for this to happen.
Statistics says nothing about when an event will occur. That is his error. An improbable event could occur early on.
If there were such a correlation, only old people would be struck by lightning, for example.
We know that the probability of an event and time of the occurrence of an event are unrelated because it has occurred in our experience that some have walked up to a slot machine and have won huge sums after only a few attempts.
The probability of flipping 10 coins such that they are all heads is 1:1024. But that could happen on the first flip.
A person could win the lottery on the first ticket purchased.
I reread Batten's treatise and saw nothing he wrote correlating to your claim. He did however say this:
"Those who reject the Creator not only have to believe that energy/matter came into being without any cause; they also have to believe that life itself popped into existence without an adequate cause." Batten
"Even the simplest single-celled life is stupendously complex. A humble bacterium is full of incredibly sophisticated nano-machines that it needs to live.3 A cell needs a minimum of over 400 different proteins to make the machines that are absolutely essential for life.4 How could these protein-based machines make themselves, even if all the right ingredients (20 different amino acids, but many of each) could make themselves? The amino acids, often thousands of them, have to be joined together in the correct order for each protein to function."Batten
Statistics says nothing about when an event will occur. That is his error. An improbable event could occur early on.
Statistics can have nothing to say about events that happened only one time long before man and his 'statistics' arrived on the scene. You are engaging in wishful thinking.
The god you propose is not the personal, supernatural God of creation (Gen 1-11; John 1) but obviously one of the evil gods and goddesses of old. They taught the sort of stuff you mistakenly attribute to the supernatural creator God.
It seems like a dichotomy that Jesus is both King of Kings (1st Timothy 6:15) while also being our friend (John 15:15). But it's the way it is.
Thanks for posting this well-written article.
You’re very welcome! :-)
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
If the universe was created, there must be a creator. A being that powerful is beyond the understanding of human beings. It’s well beyond the limited understanding that a dog has of a human being when it looks at a human being.
Who created the Eternal Infinite?
Who created that which always was, is, and will be?
Stopped reading. Dawkins is not an atheist, he is an agnostic, he has admitted he does not have evidence for or against the existence of God.
If false articles like this have suasion for you, you need to recenter yourself and ask why you lack the perspicacity, the discernment to see the obvious falsehoods, and then ask yourself why you thought it was important to attempt to propagate it on FreeRepublic.
BINGO! And even the smug atheist who uses this argument will have to admit that eventually there WAS a "first cause".
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Yes.
God was created by the Jewish Peopl;e.
THe Irish Peopple created gods like Lugh of the Long Hand.
Whats do your questions mean?
Even God says there are many gods. He claims supremacy, and each one of them was created by a racial or ethnic group of human beings.
God claims that the Jews are his people.
So who is your God? Are you even human?
BUahahahahahahahaha!
The whole point of the cosmological proof is that for anything to exist something has to be eternal. We know the universe had a beginning. That leaves the eternal God.
