Bergoglio would undoubtedly defend the Copts’ right to preserve their rites and traditions while he doesn’t extend the same courtesy to Catholics. But, frankly, I doubt that he even understands or cares about the contradiction. He’s a Peronist. It’s not about logic or consistency. It’s about power. Peron explained it once as, “To my friends, everything. To my ends, not even justice.”
