Every culture has an origin myth. Many have flood stories.

Jews/Christians/Muslims. Also the ancient Greeks and ancient Hindus. It's very hard to believe the same flood affected areas all the way from Greece through the Fertile Crescent to the Indus, but who knows? Or maybe flooding was just a big concern for all ancient river cultures, wherever they were.
