Denver Newsroom, Oct 27, 2022 / 19:00 pm The Catholic population in Canada has declined by almost 2 million people in the last 10 years, the Canadian census has found in a report that indicates the religiously unaffiliated now outnumber Catholics.

The latest census figures, compiled in 2021, show the Catholic Canadian population has declined to 10.9 million. Catholics now make up about 29.9% of the country’s people. According to the 2011 census, the Catholic population that year was 12.8 million.

Just 53.3% of Canadians, 19.3 million people, now identify as Christian, a decline from 67.3% in 2011 and 77.1% in 2001. Statistics Canada, Canada’s national statistical office, presented the latest figures in an Oct. 26 report.

Catholicism is still the most popular religious affiliation in all provinces and territories except for Nunavut, the sparse population of which has a large Anglican component.

Quebec is the only majority Catholic province, but Catholic numbers declined “considerably,” Statistics Canada said. In 2011, 74.7% of Quebec residents reported that they were Catholic. The 2021 figures indicate 53.8% of Quebec residents identified as Catholic.

CNA contacted the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Archdiocese of Quebec for comment but did not receive a response by publication.

Christianity was the cornerstone of the great European nations...and the US. It's not a coincidence to see falling numbers result in an increasingly depraved nation.

Canada is a weird country that way. To overcome what had been nearly irreconcilable differences between French and British Canada, the government basically turned the various Christian sects into state-sponsored religions.

Old joke is Protestant ministers confront priests and shake hands with them at a gathering.
“We just want to thank you again for bringing us so many congregants due to your policies on marriage and divorce.”

My personal belief is along with the stated reason of “science such as the Big Bang and evolution learned in school” the other reason to leave is prayers that God answers with “no.”

A baby or a little child is in pain and dying, a loved one is in intensive care, someone is falsely accusing an innocent person they framed and they will lose everything and may go to prison, and major hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes may take large amounts of lives.
People pray and God says “no.”

Many people leave all types of religions after these.

Others have strong faith and tough it out and believe God has a way to bring good out of the bad but we don’t know how with out finite minds. Book of Job or Genesis sections of the falsely accused Joseph.

They have exchanged the True Body for the True Dough.

No different than the rise of agnostic wokism among the youngins south of the 49th parallel.

It’s no coincidence that this is in synch with Canada going down the tubes with its “leadership”.
