German catholic churches get paid by the state for butts in the seat

Not exactly. They get paid based on the number of people who check "Catholic" on their tax returns. Whether those people show up for Sunday Mass doesn't affect the payout.

It's a truly terrible system, because it denies the faithful their only real opt-out power apart from just walking away.

Then how come most of Protestantism has already "gone there" and "done that"?

You understand that these bishops are rejecting both Scripture and tradition, don't you?

“Most of Protestantism” has done no such thing. A few far left dying denominations have and these are the ones Catholics want to emulate.

The Protestant churches which have gone this route are the ones that have abandoned scripture - which makes my original point.

A few far left dying denominations

"A few"? Like all of the national churches in the traditionally Protestant parts of Europe?

Yes, and for Catholics to emulate them requires the Catholics to reject both Scripture and Tradition at the same time.

Traditional Catholic moral theology refers to sodomy as a "sin that cries out to heaven for vengeance". You can't get from there to where these German wolves-in-sheeps-clothing are going.

“ Like all of the national churches in the traditionally Protestant parts of Europe?”

Those would be the ones who have abandoned Sola Scriptura in favor of manufacturing traditions. Sounds like a familiar trajectory.

No, you don't get to "make up new tradition," especially if the junk you make up is flatly opposite what has been accepted for 2000 years.

The very word traditio in Latin means that which is "handed over" from our forefathers. Understood this way, you can see that "new tradition" is oxymoronic, like "square circle".

Read St. Vincent of Lerins.

No they do just make it up. Non of the non-biblical traditions from any denomination can be traced back to the Apostles. It’s just made up.

That’s where cultists start from: the Trinity and the canon of the NT were “just made up”. Do you believe Paul when he commanded the Thessalonians to hold fast to the traditions they had received from him, whether by word of mouth or by letter? (2 Thess 2:15) Or was he just making that up?

Any tradition received directly from an Apostle would be oral scripture. The Apostles were prophets. Thus, their pronouncements, oral or written, is scripture - special revelation. Since they are long dead all we have left is written scripture. This is much different from a denomination just making up something up with no Apostolic foundation.

Wake me up when the church takes punitive action against these heretics.

I expect to be awake, standing before the Lord and seeing God’s judgement fall on them. Then they will be loosed for a time, then thrown in the pit.

God is not mocked.

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Mat 18:5,6)

Yeah, they’re the types that don’t read the Bible and follow whatever spiritual leader they think matches their own point of view. Typical Jim Jones recruits. He was a communist and didn’t even believe in God, by the way.
