Friend worries Wife not SAVED
Tnoldman

Posted on 01/15/2022 5:06:53 PM PST by TNoldman

My Wife and I are Christians who have been Baptized. I attend an Evangelical Church on a regular basis - my Wife attends a local Methodist Church occasionally. My Wife is very knowledgeable about the Bible and most always looks and finds very positive guides in the Bible. We discuss the Bible together.

We love God and Pray often.

Our Friend worries that my Wife will go to Hell and talks fearfully that she is not SAVED.

We know we are flawed but we have declared our love for God and Jesus publicly thru Adult Baptism. We know we are a work in progress!!!!

Comments invited.

You need better friends.

Yeah. I second that.

If you’re so endeared by your church, what answers are found there?

I’m going through marital issues myself. It’s tough. Really tough. I wish you the best here.

That said the fact you’re even entertaining it and doubting your wife means you should see help.

I think your friend deciding if your wife is saved or not is treading on thin ice. I thought that was left up to the Big Guy, as it were.

If she’s accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and tries her best to walk with Him, I think she’s doing okay.

Amen. I myself have concerns over anyone going to a Methodist church. But to tell somebody that they may go to hell over that?

Ridiculous.

You should advise your friend that you are worried about him because you don’t think that he is saved enough.

The idea that one could live a good life and always be considerate of others and be denied a place in heaven while someone who dotted all the i’s and crossed all the tee’s is let through those pearly gates does not excite me at all.

this “friend” will be the wedge between you!
your “friend” has been pentecostalized!!
i know, i once was one.
nobody is “saved the right way if not the pentecostal way”.

dump the friend with all the honey thick reasoning.
she’s your wife, so if the friend persists in the nbusiness of your salvation, be the husband and the man, tell your friend to go fish!

I don’t blame you for not being excited. But guess what? Neither one of the individuals you described is good enough to get into heaven. Only the grace of God gets one across into the pearly gates.

Well by your own words, then, dont sweat it.

There is no one alive who dots all their i’s and crosses all their t’s. No one “gets in” this way.

If anyone COULD get in that way, they wouldn’t need Jesus’ death to redeem them.

Hopefully now, you dont have to let this impossible scenario irritate you any longer. Theres nothing to be angry about. :)

“My Wife is very knowledgeable about the Bible and most always looks and finds very positive guides in the Bible.”

That seems to me to be more evidence of the fruits of the Spirit than someone judging someone as “unsaved” because they are of the wrong background, go to the “wrong” church, or don’t say the exact same phrases and religious cliches.

Jesus promises us we will be saved. Your friend is interpreting the Bible severely. It’s not up to your friend, it’s up to God.

Baptism doesn’t save you. Don’t believe me? Ask the thief on the cross next to Christ. Not saying it is not an important outward declaration of your devotion to Jesus, but it is not what will save you. Only devotion to Christ will do that.

Romans 10:9-10

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

“Our Friend worries that my Wife will go to Hell and talks fearfully that she is not SAVED.”

Why?

What is his basis for saying that?

The standard for Salvation is: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

There is a wide range of denominational differences under the umbrella of Christian. I may have deep disagreements with others under that umbrella, but if they have the basic fundamental down, they are saved.
