The reality is that while not requiring worship, there can be no strict separation of church and state in which the latter does not essentially favor and foster religion, and one more than the other, reflecting that ot is founders and those who elect their interpreters. Thus if this were in 1960 that student would likely have been "subjected" official prayers and reading of the Bible in public school, and not schooled in the "religion" of "wokeism." Today, students are yet allowed to have Bible clubs and to evangelize, and while a teacher is not supposed to, yet they do engage in evangelizing liberalism, but which is protected under the biased judgment that as long as a deity is not involved then fostering faith-based (such as that the universe had no creator and sanctioning abortion and homosexual relations is good) ideological conversion is encouraged.
The moral laws of every country flow from what they believe, thus "Muslim women can now be banned from wearing hijabs at work, EU court rules."
Teens are allowed to discuss religion and make decisions. No parent gets to force their child to believe X - whatever X is. There is no right to silence, requiring everyone else to hide their beliefs so the child is only exposed to the parents’ belief.

If a teacher had given one of my kids a Book of Mormon, could I sue? I think not! I could pull my kid out of school, but I cannot force another adult to hide their belief.
Just a few miles away from where I lived at the time a Moslem dad ran over and killed his daughter. Islam is like the Mafia. Once you join the penalty for leaving is death.
A public school teacher should not be converting children. The article said “former,” so I looked at that, not knowing the teacher was working for the school when he supposedly “converted” the student.

They should count their blessings. At least the school didn’t convince their daughter that she is a boy.
Hopefully, the daughter now changes her name, goes into a protection program, and never sees her evil parents again.

The Christian club could be the main target. Was the daughter drawn to it herself, perhaps finding Islam unconvincing, and maybe also the one who first expressed concern herself over her parents’ possible reaction to her conversion?
Payers for the parents to find Christ and be saved too are entirely appropriate.

The best resolution is for the parents to accept Jesus as their savior, repent, and seek a Christ filled life. Their current path leads only to their eternal doom.
