I actually know Christians whose attitude is that Jesus is coming back soon and the tribulation is going to wreak havoc on the earth, so why should we bother.

I know a few of them myself but they are only a minuscule fraction of true believers. People in general don’t need and don’t want to be preached to and pressured by environmental freaks! And that includes me! I remember reading a scientific article years ago that stated the pollution shot into the atmosphere by the Mount Saint Helen’s volcanic eruption exceeded that which humans have been responsible for over the last hundred years!
How come Jesus gets Industrial Disease?
