The Jesuits are politically suspect anyway. Of course they are for the underdog, but their definition of just who the “underdog” really is, gets a little convoluted at times.
The quality of mercy gets badly skewed on occasion, to add to the other strains it must be subject to.

You’re way too kind. I went to a Jesuit university. I sent my son to one of their high schools for the academics, but first uparmored him for years against their politics. I’ve dealt with these people for over 40 years. Almost all of them express their political views, and less than five expressed other than left wing political views. They’re a bunch of crackpots, and I include Francis in that. This good padre appears to be unfamiliar with the doctrine of “obstinacy in sin”
