Remember volunteering in the Marine Corps to join a work party to help paint a orphanage in Patras, Greece. Our ships, part of the 6th Fleet, were in Patras for shore liberty.
What impressed me then, and since, no matter where you go in the world (I'm well travelled) school yards all sound the same … excited chatter from a distance with no discernable language difference. Kids need to be in school, they need the social interaction.

This actually goes back to the 19th century in French history and politics. It has quite a story behind it.

These measures were first used against the Catholic Church and Catholic schools from the 1880’s on, only relaxed after WWI.

Now they are trying to use them against Muslims, but catching everyone else too.

“Liberals” did this kind of thing back then, in Europe. The definition of liberal was never what us moderns like to think of as “classic liberals”. Back then, in continental Europe, they were much more like Woodrow Wilsons idea of Progressives.

Social interaction is not defined by a group of same-age (for the most part) children interacting. As a Marine, you had peers, subordinates (lower rank), and superiors (higher rank). Would you have learned from interacting ONLY with the same-rank individuals?

The fracturing of school rooms into age-peer holding tanks has done a LOT of damage to society. In adult society, any age-peer organization is quickly diagnosed as dysfunctional.

And now, it is taught as “normal” in almost every classroom in the western hemisphere.
