My guess is that God does not want a barrier (sandal) between Himself and His creature(man),Besides, He is pleased to bless his creature and a barrier would diminish its effect. Just surmising.

Well, hate to be a Debbie downer, but our Triune God gave us two very difficult barriers between us and Him to overcome.....namely Free Will and an Ego.
And those Old Testament peeps didnt think God had a sense of humor....
