California’s Grace Community Church and its head pastor, John MacArthur, won the right to continue meeting in person for worship on Friday after state ordinances deemed religious services as unessential, but it was quickly overruled by an emergency order enacted by the California Court of Appeals the next day, making it again illegal for the church to meet indoors.
“At this very preliminary stage in this litigation, the County has demonstrated a likelihood that it will prevail on the merits of enforcing its July 18, 2020, Health Order,” the three judges wrote in the opinion on Saturday.
The county of Los Angeles attempted to file a “temporary restraining order,”’ but Judge James Chalfant sided with Grace and “denied almost all of the county’s requests” claiming that the church “should be permitted to infringe on the constitutionally protected rights of churches to freely exercise religion” as long “congregants wear masks and social distance between family groups indoors.” A full hearing will be held on September 4, 2020.
Grace Community Church has been embroiled in litigation since they first defied California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s orders to cease indoor gatherings in certain counties in early July.
“We do not need the state’s permission to serve and worship our Lord as He has commanded,” the church said. “Freedom of worship is a command of God, not a privilege granted by the state.”

We have had people driving from Los Angeles to Phoenix to come to our Catholic Church. They are really suffering in CA.
My opinion is that a church should be bound by the government’s rules- if they are not specific to churches.
Rules that are specific to churches are obviously unconstitutional- and obviously stupid.
Well I am a church goer and I wish everyone who values the freedom of being individualistic and the God given freedom of choice (and not about abortion either) would change the expression from "social distancing," to PROTECTIVE DISTANCING!!!
The over-usage of the word social for more and more things is just an all too clever way of softening everyone up for social-ISM!!! I Hope and pray someday enough of us will change this subtle trend in this greatest of all nations on Earth!!!

It is beyond time for churches to meet again. I recommend churches start to gather to “protest” against Satan (worship God) and use chants and slogans (formerly known as prayers and hymns) to bring awareness to the world of the need for repentance and salvation to guide all to “World Peace”.

A veteran and business owner living in Shasta County, California is completely fed up with the authoritarian Covid lockdown orders so he gave a stern warning to the Board of Supervisors.
Residents and business owners last week held a rally outside of the Board of Supervisors chamber and demanded Shasta County re-open and lift its ridiculous mask mandate.
Shasta County officials however pointed the finger at Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom.
“Our local health officer has not made any restrictions over and above what the state of California has, so we are doing all that we can to keep the county as open as possible,” Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency Director Donnell Ewert said, according to Redding.com. “We are one of roughly 20 counties that still are not on the (state) monitoring list…so Shasta County is open; it is, again, in the category of most open counties in California.”
Believe that John MacArthur is absolutely right; the right to observe worship was commanded by God, not the state of California. They can’t take away something that was not theirs to give in the first place.
