Moses was not the one that "etched" out either set. God wrote both. Both sets were identical. The LORD said to Moses, 'Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.' Exodus 34:1

Exactly! And this is why those tablets were revered and preserved and placed within the Ark of the Covenant. They were etched by the very hand of God. Perhaps on the day that it is found and opened we will ALL know the answer to your question. In the meantime, suffice it to say that whatever language God used to record His commandments to the children of Israel, they were understood, memorized, taught and passed down.

At that time the LORD said to me, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the originals, come up to Me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood. And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you are to place them in the ark.” So I made an ark of acacia wood, chiseled out two stone tablets like the originals, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. And the LORD wrote on the tablets what had been written previously, the Ten Commandments that He had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the assembly. The LORD gave them to me, and I went back down the mountain and placed the tablets in the ark I had made, as the LORD had commanded me; and there they have remained. (Deuteronomy 10:1-5)

And I’m glad I was corrected for it actually helped me as God would have either etched a language Moses knew or etched one he didn’t, but it would be hard to maintain a continuity from the two tablets to the written Torah God gave Moses if in a language Moses didn’t know.

Point is, the Proto Simaitic and Paleo Hebrew were languages used at the time of Moses and after, so it was a language they evolved from that God used to etch the tablets or something not at all like them Gid used on the two tablets, and Masoretic Text and Aramaic Hebrew were not used at all in Moses’ time.

What a timely post. Divine Providence indeed.

Not sure Judeo Christianity could buy it, but today actually marks that day.
When Moses travels back up the mount with the two new tables.

And Moses is there for another 40.
And when Moses comes down after that 40, his face shines.

On the calendar in the bible, Moses just came down the mount two days ago,on the 29th day of the 4th month.
That day is commemorated in Exodus 32 and in he New Testament, Acts 2.

And I know that Judeo Christianity can’t buy that because it would mess the timing of Pentecost, but the math of ‘Pentecost’ ignores a day that Satan also seeks to ignore in timekeeping.
So, the Feast of Weeks is held about 50 days earlier than what the bible math records thanks to Satan’s math.

But that’s the blessing of following the bible and His timekeeping.
Today is the first day of the 5th month as in the days of Moses.
Called a New Moon Day.
A day He sets apart each month to commemorate Genesis 1:1 and if one is a New Covenant believer, John 1:1. And with more study,John 1:14 each month.

It’s no accident Satan doesn’t want people keeping that day separate from the 6 work days like the Bible says.
Satan’s math doesn’t get people to 60 or 100.
They seem to have to stop at 50.

That reference to Moses’ face shining earlier brings to mind a New Covenant account of Moses and Elijah appearing on a mount while the Messiah was ‘transfigured’ in the presence of a small remnant of disciples.

Only 3 disciples were on the mount and the rest were down below fighting and losing against demons.

We have an account of Elijah even covering his face on a mount in the Old Testament.

40 days from today, that event seems hinted at with the Father’s timekeeping.

Interestingly, there are days in the next 40 that the account of a baptism and driven into the wilderness occurs in the New Covenant scriptures.
Maybe we get hints of when Elijah was on the mount and what future events may unfold on certain days in the future.

Again, quite the timely post!
