PROFITING FROM PROVERBS - 7/10/2020
King James Bible | 7/10/2020 | pilgrimsprogress

“The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:21-22 KJV).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“The lips of the righteous feed many,” a righteous man will teach the Word of God. A good father and mother will teach their children righteous concepts. Feed them the Word of God. A faithful husband will see that his wife is fed from the Word.

TODAY’S VERSE:

“The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:21-22 KJV).

“. . . but fools die for want of wisdom,” they don’t have it, they lack it. Fools die both physically and spiritually. Here is the fool, “This looks like a place of wisdom.” So, he enters in to find it, but there is no true wisdom there. And they die. He goes into a church that teaches a bloodless religion, there is no wisdom there. And he dies. He goes into a university that claims to teach the Bible, but they tear it apart with so-called critical thinking so that there is no wisdom there. And he dies. He dies for want of wisdom.

Peter addressed this tragic situation: “These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage” (II Peter 2:17-19 KJV).

When the man leaves these institutions, he is convinced that he came from a monkey, and that there is no God and no answer beyond the present distress. It is no wonder why many men end their lives through suicide rather than to face a meaningless existence. They have no wisdom concerning real life or what life really holds.

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich,” this comes from two sources: (1) Spiritual blessings in Christ, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power” (Ephesians 1:18-19 KJV). (2) Material blessings, “Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God” (Ecclesiastes 5:19 KJV).

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it,” when God gives it to a man that earns it and is able to handle it, there is no sorrow with it. Sometimes, when God makes people rich and it isn’t a blessing like the man that no longer needs the Lord over in Proverbs 30.

“Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain” (Proverbs 30:9 KJV).

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
