Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Jeremiah 30

18 “This is what the Lord says:

“‘I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents
    and have compassion on his dwellings;
the city will be rebuilt on her ruins,
    and the palace will stand in its proper place.
19 From them will come songs of thanksgiving
    and the sound of rejoicing.
I will add to their numbers,
    and they will not be decreased;
I will bring them honor,
    and they will not be disdained.
20 Their children will be as in days of old,
    and their community will be established before me;
    I will punish all who oppress them.
21 Their leader will be one of their own;
    their ruler will arise from among them.
I will bring him near and he will come close to me—
    for who is he who will devote himself
    to be close to me?’
declares the Lord.
22 “‘So you will be my people,
    and I will be your God.’”

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!
For Your Alone Are Worthy of Our Devotion,
For You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are the True God of The Universe!
The Earth is Yours
And The Fullness thereof
You Control the Wind and The Rain
You Create a Lovely Spring Day
Or a Mighty Tempest.
Where can we run?
For When I Go to sleep at night, You are with me.
When I awake in the morning, You Are There.
You know my going out and my coming in.
You count every hair of my head,
And You keep all my tears in a bottle as a remembrance.

Abba Father,
When You give us a task,
Let us not flee from it.
Even if we don't particularly want to do it!
And teach us to love all whom You have created,
Even those who are wicked and vile.
For we were all once as they are,
Until You, in Your mercy,
Snatched us out as a burning coal from a fire.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In my own Devotional Reading, I have finished the "Poetry" Section and moved the bookmark back to the first Book in that series, which happens to be the Book of Job. Job is a big, long, poem, which we call a "Saga". Most of it is taken up by Job's "Friends" scolding Job, claiming that his misery is a direct result of his own sin. In between their diatribes, Job laments his situation. I don't think I will spoil things if I tell you that eventually God intervenes and restores Job's life. It is a common theme in the Bible: Destruction, Lamentation, God's Intervention, and Rebirth.

Yesterday, on America's 244th Birthday, the Scripture that came up was about teaching our "daughters" how to Lament. I was a wee bit challenged as to how to fit that into the theme of America's Celebration of Independence Day, but, as you recall, I watched the Mt. Rushmore Celebration the night before. On both the TV Screen and the Live Thread, I saw lots of "lamentations", but few of them actually leading to repentance. Some wailed against the President, Others wailed about the restraint of the police. When the President finally got up and spoke, he calmly reiterated praise for the heroes of American History. The next Day, the media wailed and lamented that his speech was "dark and menacing", and others wailed that he "didn't go far enough to condemn the rioters". Oh Well.

Lamentation without repentance and restoration is not the kind of lamentation recommended in the Bible. While we are encouraged to express our deepest heart before God, and lay out our case before Him, we are not encouraged to carp and complain without trusting Him for a solution. Street protesters and rioters do not offer a solution to poverty and destruction. They actually create MORE of it. Defunding the Police does not DECREASE Crime, it INCREASES it. CHAZ was not a Paradise. It was a little Hell on Earth.

And so, Godless Lamentation leads to Songs of Mourning. But, the Godly Lamentation in Yesterday's Thread has led to Today's Songs of Thanksgiving.
