The thing that will likely doom Biden is that his support will have an asterisk by it until he picks a veep, who everyone is going to view as the actual candidate for POTUS.

Neither Biden nor Trump should take anything for granted.
Both the media and Trump have had poor choice of words, poor communication on coronavirus and the recovering economy. The media can get away with it. They are not letting Trump get away with it.
But Trump has been especially poor at communicating the difference between freedom of speech and assembly and violent riots. As Evangelicals are mostly against racism, which unfortunately does exist and we see it, Trump’s communication failure on race has been especially weakening of his support.
