His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Kythira of the Greek Orthodox Church was arrested on Friday, March 20, for defying the governments order and continuing to celebrate the Divine services.
The Holy Synod of the Greek Church earlier announced that it would reduce its parishes schedules to just one-hour Liturgies on Sunday, though the state then overruled the hierarchs and ordered that all services be canceled until March 30 in an effort to contain the coronavirus.
According to the Greek newspaper Lifo.gr, the Metropolitan was arrested after celebrating the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Cross Cathedral in defiance of the states order. The doors of the cathedral were open and the bells were rung, calling the faithful to worship.
Met. Seraphims decision to serve angered Mayor Stratos Harhalakis, who stated that no one can be above the law.
The Greek hierarch was taken to the police station and a case was opened against him. He was later released by the order of the Prosecutor General after it was explained to him that next time he would have to appear before a special court for considering the cases of those detained at the scene of a crime.

Well, shades of Emperor Nero!
Perhaps the state governors will take this as a lesson to learn to keep their own religious populations under control during this ‘menace?’
Caesar is not in charge of the worship of God.

Nope the worship of God continued.
And it can be done safely if liked with six feet distancing between households etc. several videos of it on YouTube at this point.
Render to God what is Gods.
is that what he was doing though?
and if the law differs?
then be the martyr
Yes. The worship of God belongs to God.
As for what he was doing I dont know. However the state cant ban the worship of God. And by that I dont mean virtual.
As for martyrdom the church has endured that throughout its existence and usually for meeting to worship.
