FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 14, 2020
MASSES CANCELED IN ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK
(New York, NY) In light of the continued concern surrounding the coronavirus, and the advice of medical experts, all Masses in the Archdiocese of New York will be canceled beginning this weekend, March 14-15, 2020.
This development follows upon todays decision of Dutchess County to prohibit gatherings of more than 20 people. It is also intended to provide clarity and consistency throughout the ten counties that comprise the Archdiocese of New York (Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess).
Churches will, however, remain open for private prayer.
Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, urged the faithful to remember in their prayers all those whose lives have been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. Let us pray for all who are sick, as well as doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all those working hard to combat the disease. We should also remember those whose lives have been otherwise disrupted, especially anyone who has lost income from a loss of work during this difficult time.
A private Mass will be celebrated in Saint Patricks Cathedral, and will be available on many cable systems via the Catholic Faith Network and its website at www.catholicfaithnetwork.org, livestreamed on the Saint Patricks Cathedral website at www.saintpatrickscathedral.org/live, and broadcast on radio on The Catholic Channel of Sirius XM (Channel 129).
Also in Detroit until Palm Sunday.
Ping
As kids sometimes in church we would listen for the congregants coughing, sneezing, belching, farting or whatever audible bodily sounds they were generating, lol. Ahhh yuteful entertainment for giggles.
All masses in the Diocese of San Diego have been cancelled indefinitely, including California’s first church, Mission San Diego.
If they can’t kill the 1st Amend one way they’ll do it another.
At least the Archdiocese hasn’t concluded that “We don’t have a prayer.”
...If they cant kill the 1st Amend one way theyll do it another.
In Christ, however, Psalm 50:23
Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.
This is just insane.
No, its a good idea. Churches are one of the worst places to be for disease spread.
Seattle - closed. Portland, OR - open.
How about those Catholic who have been deprived of the sacraments by you, Your Enormous?
That’s it, close the churches when Jesus Christ is needed most. The devil is deeply imbedded in the church, sad to say. The commies, the abortionists and atheists are having a field day.
Twelve to fourteen thousand Americans died from the swine flu in 2009-2010. So far about 50,mostly elderly folks have passed away from the coronavirus. This is a massive effort by the media and the RATS to take down Trump by causing America to panic. If Obama was still President the media wouldn’t give this virus a second thought.
Agreed.
“Dr. Gregory Poland, a Mayo Clinic infectious diseases and vaccine specialist, says that the threat of the coronavirus is real, but the seasonal flu still remains a bigger issue for most people.
“Right now, seasonal flu is causing many more deaths than COVID-19, and the tragedy is that many people die because they consider it ‘just the flu,’” says Dr. Poland.”
What about stores? Plenty of people are out there. Our Archdiocese is urging the priests to have mass but attendance is not mandatory. They are also saying if you are sick or have compromised immune system stay home. And there is live streaming of Masses.
Google numbers...so they are probably CLOSE.
There won’t be any speech if there aren’t any people.
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.
Spoken by the real Enormous One.
